As a Franciscan, Catholic Priest, and Law Enforcement Chaplain, for me the life of St Francis has been an inspiration in my own life. But also has Dietrich Bonhoeffer.  Both had removed all possessions (former by choice, the latter by force)  that got in th...

If you are in ministry or chaplaincy of any faith, this lecture should be on your "To Do" list.

Fr Dan delivers a message, which is very Franciscan, that we should all consider ourselves of One race - the Human race.

He helps us understand the ethnocentric views we bring to the world because of our civil, cultural, and ecclesiastical glasses which often time cloud our view of the reality of the world before us, and moreover, how these 3 sets of glasses can cloud our ability to, as St Francis says, "Preach the Gospel at all times, and when necessary, use words."

This is why I am proud to serve as a police Chaplain alongside Staff Chaplain Pat Holman and the 1600+ Sworn Officers and IMPD Civilians in Indianapolis Public Safety and IMPD. Many officers are not law enforcement officers to simply to enforce the law, but truly feel "called" to serve their communities in which they live.

I am also proud to serve in one of the best law enforcement agencies in the country, constantly finding new and better ways to bring police, communities, service organizations and members of ALL Faiths together to help meet the need of our fellow Indianapolis neighbors in need in this great city of Indianapolis, beyond simply "law enforcement".

If you are are a law enforcement agency and want to learn how you can truly make a difference in your communities beyond simply being "law enforcement", I urge you to reach out to IMPD Public Information Office who can connect you with individuals like Asst Chief Waters of IMPD, Director Julie Fidler of Indianapolis Public Health and Safety Foundation, or the Chaplain's Office of IMPD, so your department and/or organization can find out how your agency can reach out to the communities you serve.
