Essential planning for footfall analytics - You might find that the Marketing department wants sales conversion figures, where visitor counts are linked to point-of-sale (POS) data. Customer services may be more interested in queue lengths and times. Other decision-makers may want to know the path people take through a building. Some employees might want nothing to do with the system, seeing threats rather than opportunities. ttp://buff.ly/2kGWwUE

Glossary of People Counting - A video counting system detects people moving through a counting zone. It may be, though, that a person enters the counting zone and then stands still. If they stand still for long enough, the system will consider them to be part of the background. The length of time a person can stand still and yet be counted in called the Freeze Time. http://buff.ly/2kWeyAI

Counting "Hot Air" Balloon Passengers - We installed a Retail Sensing system on the balloon’s walk-in grantry. A camera detects people getting on and off, and an intelligent counting unit regularly sends data wirelessly to a laptop. The time of each batch of counts is recorded and counts are verified simply by watching the video. http://buff.ly/2kgvnJH

Here's why retailers miss easy opportunities to increase sales
Many retailers collect people counts, but few use the information to its full potential. Here’s why they are missing out on easy opportunities to grow sales.

It’s not the number of people going into the store on which they need to focus, but what the potential customers do when they get there.

Converting more browsers into customers, increasing the amount they spend and upping the number of items they buy can massively increase sales from the shop visitors they already have. This is achievable in just three months.

Retail profits depend on attracting people into the store and converting them into customers. When people visit the shop, there are many factors to converting the traffic into sales, not least the right products at the right prices. But retailers  also need enough staff to ensure a good shopping experience, whether it’s by helping people find what they are looking for, providing advice on products, suggesting alternatives or giving a quick check-out. http://buff.ly/2kGWiNf
