reCommerce 2.0 has arrived

We've been working well over 6 months on the new release of reCommerce. Version 2.0 brings about a lot of exciting changes that we know will help your online storefront look even more professional.

While many of changes are cosmetic, we did make some noticeable changes under the hood to help improve your store's footprint on the web.

- reCommerce can be run under your own domain name. (i.e. "www.lovemetwotimes.com")

- Stores now have 100% complete control over the look and feel of their site

-The site is now completely CSS driven (geek talk for "your web designers will love it").
-reCommerce now uses AJAX for many features (more geek talk for 'your customers will love it'!)

-3 different ways for your customers to view pictures of your items.

-Tighter integration with consignor login.

-Tighter integration with our appointment scheduler.

-Four convenient ways for your customers to purchase (i.e. Credit Card (Heartland Payment Systems), Paypal*, Google and now Checkout by Amazon)

-17 different color schemes for you to choose from

-Built-in banners for you to use

-Integrates into Googlebase to help you promote your items

As some of you may know, reCommerce is built on top of the XCART ecommerce engine. XCART has over 30,000 sites around the world and provides one of the most robust feature sets of any ecommerce engine out there. Because of the changes to XCART over the past several years, it was imperative that we bring this exciting feature set to our reCommerce customers. We re-engineered how we customized XCART so that future updates will be much easier.

We also select the Smart Template system for our base template system. This template by XCARTMODS is a very flexible template which gives our stores some excellent 'out of the box' functionality to make their store shine without having to heavily invest in their stores website look and feel.

By the way, we 'put our money where our mouth is' and built the entire new Resaleworld website on the XCART engine.

*Paypal Pro requires a dedicated SSL Certificate and IP address which are billed at $79/yr. Paypal Express has no requirements.

Includes full web hosting!!!

In the last few weeks, we have made significant improvements in our server infrastructure so that we can now provide full and complete web hosting for our reCommerce customers.

Why the change? We wanted to give stores the tools they needed to create fully functional ecommerce websites with a more integrated feel. Many stores were linking to their reCommerce site from their existing site and it created a disjointed look and feel. Now that we have separated each store into their own workspace, it's much easier to create a seamless and coherent environment for their shoppers.

Stores can do pretty much whatever they need to do to get their site working the way they want it work. You will have full access.

Designer's Corner
Many of you have web designers who help you with your current site. If they have questions about how the new reCommerce works, we've set up a designer's corner on our forum. We've made this forum Public so they don't need to login to get answers.

New reCommerce Plans

In order to accommodate our larger reCommerce clients, we've made some changes to the reCommerce plan options. The plans offer lower transaction fees and higher eBay listings. This way, stores with larger volumes can budget easier.

Migration to new reCommerce

First question you might be asking is..."How can I switch my current store to the new reCommerce?" Good question. It really depends on the complexity of your current reCommerce site.

If you used our standard 'out-of-box' template and only uploaded your logo and made some minor text modifications, it shouldn't be that tough. The migration should only take a day or so.

In fact, if you want to, we can set up a new site for you and you can re-synchronize your inventory. You can then go in and just make the changes manually. You can cut and paste the text from the old site.

If your site is more extensive and you've done a lot of changes with images and CSS changes, then we recommend creating a development site where you can play and make all your design changes. After you complete the changes, we will then migrate your inventory over to the new site. So basically, here are your options....

Option 1 - FREE (You do the work)

1. We create a new workspace for you to do your work.
2. You can then make all your cosmetic changes to the new site including static pages, logos, store images, etc.
3. We send you all updated files for Liberty to work with new reCommerce
4. We reset your items in Liberty to 'Ready' status and then synchronize to your new reCommerce site.

Option 2 - $99 (We do the work)

1. We create a new workspace for your new site.
2. We migrate all your static pages, category images, brand images, payment information, shipping methods, etc.
3. We send you all updated files for Liberty to work with new reCommerce
4. We reset your items in Liberty to 'Ready' status and then synchronize to your new reCommerce site.

Option 3 - $149 (We both do the work)

1. We create a new workspace for you to do your work.
2. We migrate all your static pages, category images, brand images, payment information, shipping methods, etc.
3. You can continue to have your old reCommerce site up and running at this time.
4. Have your web developer come in and make all the changes to your new reCommerce store.
5. After all your changes are made, we move your development site to your production site.
6. We reset your items in Liberty to 'Ready' status and then synchronize to your new reCommerce site.

Remember, if you have a site with extensive skin modifications, you are responsible for making these changes. We recommend Option 1 or 2 if you are using one of the standard colored templates that come with reCommerce and Option 3 if you have a very heavily modified site.

Please be advised that support and updates for the current reCommerce will end September 1, 2012.
