Programming a game in DotNet but want to build for Linux?

Eh, I guess you're not THAT bad.

EDIT: The commits have been pushed:

https://github.com/flibitijibibo/MonoGame/commit/677b2d499df34ef99dc7b71ae777ce8085d97dd9
https://github.com/flibitijibibo/MonoGame/commit/241b534767c16b1789972f1447617032513df3d3
https://github.com/flibitijibibo/MonoGame/commit/22d8861589889062788fd4a7d964ae4c9244642d

Right after I post this, I will be pushing a major change to the Storage subsystem to MonoGame-SDL2. It will provide greater accuracy, but it WILL affect your game saves! Here's why:

Previously, StorageDevice exhibited the following behavior:

- When opening a StorageContainer with a PlayerIndex, the container created a folder Player0 to Player3, depending on the PlayerIndex.
- When opening a StorageContainer without a PlayerIndex, the container did not create any folder, and simply operated on the game save directory's root folder.

As it turns out, NEITHER of these behaviors are correct! From the "Implementation on Windows" section of the following MSDN article:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb200105.aspx

"When no PlayerIndex is specified, content is saved in the AllPlayers folder. When a PlayerIndex is specified, the content is saved in the Player1, Player2, Player3, or Player4 folder, depending on which PlayerIndex was passed to BeginShowSelector."

Obviously, this isn't a problem for current MG-SDL2 titles on Linux/Mac, as we just, you know, save the files. The problem is when trying to keep Windows compatibility, and more importantly, XNA compatibility. The files are simply being saved to the wrong place.

If you're already shipping/playing MG-SDL2 titles, you can in theory stick to your shipping revision and be okay. But I'm confident that you're going to want the improvements we make as we get closer to FNA 1.0, so I would suggest preparing for this update as soon as possible, so this doesn't become a forgotten issue and lead to many unhappy/confused customers wondering where the hell their saves went.

You can be confident that this change will NOT destroy/corrupt any save files that exist. The only concern is that the saves will be opened/saved in a different location. You will need to advise your customers of the change for your game and where customers need to move their saves to. Once this is done, they won't need to do it again. Of course, customers making new saves with the new locations will not need to do anything special.

I apologize for the annoyance, but you can expect this to stay as it is from now on. That's the bright side of aiming for XNA accuracy in this area.

C'est pas parce-qu'on est en 2014 et civilisé  qu'il faut rejeter les pratiques barbares et dégradantes du moyen-âge voyons.

Hé qu'on est xénophobe des fois.

This is political, but I think it worth posting, in case it runs into the streams of interested parties:

The so-called "Fair" Elections Act prohibits Elections Canada from speaking publicly about democracy. That includes scrapping the student vote program, which has engaged 500,000 youth and promotes the importance of voting. In Committee, when I asked the Minister to reinstate these public education powers, he declined. Sign the petition: http://bit.ly/1eKJgGD

All systems are inherently flawed by privilege. The conundrum is limiting how much privilege allows one to shape justice in one's own favor.

Scheisse.

We interrupt our usual beer snobbery with a combination that would make an angel weep.  Let us pray.  "For I am a sinner in the hands of an angry God. Bloody Mary full of vodka, blessed are you among cocktails. Pray for me now and at the hour of my death, which I hope is soon. Amen."

It's the third time I come to this branch of the chain, and it's the third time I come out of it less than content. While the atmosphere is at best decent, the food here sadly is less than par for the price. A 17$ rosé sauce Tortellini serving should have way more taste than what I ate. Overpriced, overblown, and relying only on its brand name.

This is a little mom'n'pop café/shop that provides and does it well! I was surprised to see a pumpkin cheesecake here, and I was NOT disappointed! The atmosphere is also pretty welcoming.

The food is decent and tasty and goes very well with the selection of microbrews they make and serve. A very appreciated little taste of the Petite Patrie.

Price is cheap for a venue on St-Laurent, and the quality is very decent, though it's not fine cuisine.

Sunday Tacos might be cheap and all, but a big group with guaranteed tips won't encourage the waiter to expedite the service. To illustrate, we, a table of 13, have waited an hour or so for our orders, while many surrounding tables arrived, ordered and got their food, all AFTER we ordered ours. Extremely dissatisfied, will not come again ever and will even tell people NOT to come here. The only reason I put 1 in Service is that I was better served at my previous visits.
