I should have someone come in to fix my AC unit. It is currently not working which is fine for now. It is going to get really hot in a month or two so I want to have it fixed by then.

The #1 way to extend the life of your air conditioning system is to change the filter regularly! #2 is to have your system maintenanced once a year. You wouldn't drive your car for more than a year without changing the oil, etc. Same goes for your home air conditioning system. Every dollar spent on maintenance will save you hundreds of dollars on repair and replacements!

From the first phone call with Joe, to my meeting with Chris - an excellent and positive experience. Chris was on-time, and carefully explained the problem and outlined the solution. Friendly and very helpful in his explanation. The team arrived on-time as scheduled, polite, friendly, courteous (to each other also!) and was genuinely concerned and focused to do a great job. They did not leave until I was thoroughly coached and understood the new system. I gladly give REM 5 stars and highly recommend their entire operation.

Fast good techs but the pricing is way out of line. We had our two year old Lennox system serviced for $80 after repeated solicitations and nine days later coincidentally our AC broke. Called REM back and the diagnostics revealed a bad blower control module. $1250 to repair if part not under warranty and $648 if under warranty. The part was under warranty and Joe at REM recommended the blower motor also be replaced. We agreed and got the price down to $600 with a military discount. I assumed this would be 4-6 hour repair. When I got home my wife said it was done in 45 minutes. The parts were covered by Lennox under warranty so cost should have been for labor and maybe shipping for the parts (parts were in their warehouse). I called to talk with Joe the manager to see what the cost breakdown was as I see it it was $800 per hour labor charge. The answer I got was they charge by the job not time, there was a lot of paper work involved and they had to get the part? Joe said he would talk with the tech who performed the work in the morning...we never heard back.

Mr Davis, We value each and every customer. We work very hard to provide fast and professional service at a reasonable cost. We’ve been doing so since 1976, in an industry that is full of fly by night operations. I understand that paying for a major repair is never something we look forward to. But I assure you we don’t take our work or our pricing lightly. We competitive price shop on a regular basis. The pricing for the work performed is very competitive with the marketplace. Here is a recap of the work we performed. We performed a system maintenance on April 7th. Everything was working fine after we left. On Sunday, April 17th the customer called and stated the unit was not blowing any air. Normally Sunday is an afterhours service charge, but we went ahead and ran it as a normal call, since we were out there recently. We found that the blower module on unit had failed. We explained to customer we had no way of knowing the part was going bad and we could check on the Lennox part first thing Monday morning. We called the distributor first thing Monday morning and they stated we should change the motor module and motor, as the motor likely caused the module to go bad. So we called customer around 8:00 am and gave them the estimate to replace the part. They said they were calling the company that originally installed the unit because the unit is only a couple of years old. They called us back a couple hours later and told us to go ahead with the repair because the other company wanted to charge them a $90 service call just to come and look at it, and their cost to repair it would be about the same price. We also went ahead and gave him additional $48 off the repair for military discount. We performed the repair. Later in the afternoon customer complained that the tech was not there long. I explained to him that the tech was there on Sunday, diagnosed the problem and did some prep work at that time. The customer was not charged anything on Sunday. Then the technician returned on Monday to do the repair. Also the cost included the distributor’s fee that is charged to us for exchanging a warrantied part. Also we had to make 2 trips to the distributor for the warrantied part, once to pick up the new parts and once to return old parts for credit. All of this was time spent by the technician in order to complete such a repair. Again, we value your business and your service to our country. We work hard every day to make our customers happy. I do feel we did everything possible in this situation to thoroughly complete the repair for a very fair price. If you have further concerns, I am always available to speak with any customers. - Joe Mincher - 813-248-5877

We kept getting multiple quotes for replacing our compressor, because it seemed to us it was too new to replace. One company told us our warranty was expired, and the next didn't check. REM was the only one to call the manu company for us, and replace our compressor under warranty. Very thorough and personable! Thank you!

GET A SECOND OPINION!! Contacted rem to inspect our AC as it was no longer blowing cool air. The repairman was prompt, so that was good. After inspecting the unit, the repairman said I had an evaporator leak, which after a second opinion, was true. However, the Rem repairman proceeds to quote me almost $3000 dollars for a replacement coil. Or he said I could replace the entire system for approximately $4,000-7,500. When pressed on that, he quoted the higher end of 7000 due to type and size of system. Lastly, he gave me the option of just servicing the unit with freon for the cost of $700. My second opinion, quoted me $800 for the coil, around $4,000 for a new system, or if I just wanted freon, including the service call fee, around $150-200 depending on how many pounds of freon it needed. Bottom line, most of these companies are trying to sell you new equipment and do not provide you with honest pricing!!!

We met with the tenant of this home. We thoroughly inspected the entire system. It was a very old and worn system in poor condition. The only options were to replace the coil, or replace the full system. We tired to call the homeowner with the tenant present while at the home. We received no answer, and left a message. The homeowner later called back to our office and we went over or findings and the options. We explained that the air handler in the tenant's attic was in a unusually tight space. We climb through the tightest of attics with no problem. But this attic had very limited space to change out the coil or the complete system. So to perform the work would be difficult. We priced the quote according to extra difficulty. The homeowner declined our quote. The other pricing that the homeowner quotes in the review are not realistic prices from a licensed and insured contractor who has viewed this job site. We've serviced Tampa homes since 1976. Many of our employees have been with us 15+ years. We make sure every job is completed as if it were our own home. Our pricing is very competitive. You will find that our A+ BBB rating over a 40 year period shows our commitment to our customers. If you have any questions, please give us a call. We're happy to help.

Joe came to my house to give me an estimate. He answered all of my questions and spent time explaining the "ins and outs" of HVAC with me. He went into my attic to check my ducts (none of the other companies that came out for an estimate did this....they just wanted to replace my system and run with the money) and vents. He suggested some changes to my ducts along with the replacement of my system (original 15 year old system that no longer cooled). It seems that my returns were grossly undersized. He presented me with a quote that was very reasonable (and not any more than the others that were not going to make Vent/Duct corrections/additions) for the new system. Once I accepted, He had it scheduled the next day. The installers showed up and did an excellent job. They answered all of my questions and took time to explain things to me as well. They did a "picture perfect" installation. Once the installation was done, Joe and the installers adjusted the air flow through each and every vent in each and every room. The system turned out PERFECT!!! The county inspector came out two days later to do the final inspection and he even commented on the neat job and the fact that "we never have problems out of these guys". if you need a new AC system or just need maintenance/repair services REM is the right outfit to contact.
