Five out of Parma, Missouri’s six police officers resigned this week before Tyrus Byrd, the town’s first African-American, female mayor, was sworn in. The city’s attorney, clerk, and waste water treatment plant supervisor also resigned, KFVS12 reports.

WELP! Looks like people don't want to spend money at a business run by an ignoramus!
About a month after Jim Boggess posted a "white history month" sign in the window of his Main Street deli, an ensuing lack of business caused him to close his business.

Sign should read, I did something incredibly stupid and devoid of forethought that put my business at risk. I'm an idiot.

Luvvie makes me want to read this piece...but I don't have the time nor patience for 10,000 words of shade and pettiness. I'll just settle for her recap.
CHILEEEEEEE… listen. You know I love me a good read and wig snatch. Well it was served up on a platter last night when The New Republic released an essay, penned by Dr. Michael Eric Dyson. It was title “The Ghost of Cornel West“ and it was a 10,000 word ...

This is the most important map in New Jersey history
If you are a tried and true New Jersey guy or gal, you almost assuredly have a distinct answer for this question -- North, Central or South? Our map will attempt to draw the much contested boundaries New Jerseyans have fought over for eons based on where you think you live.

Jimmy Rollins was interviewed just during the "Civil Rights Game" between the Dodgers and the Mariners tonight. During his interview, he mentioned how Jackie Robinson had the courage to not fight back, even though he wanted to. That statement made me sad, because it's absolutely true. It's sad that in order to be seen as human, Black people had to be inhumanly restrained and flawless in the face of inhumane treatment. The legacy of this strategy lives on today in the form of "respectability politics", and it is tiresome. People should not have to be flawless in their speech, dress, and behavior to earn baseline respect as human beings. To err is to be human, and even flawed humans deserve baseline respect.

My friends and I go to Alstarz to watch football every Sunday since they have the most TVs in the area. With a good group of people, you can overcome the annoyances that are almost all minor...but tend to build up over time. It's huge and looks great...but that's about all they really have going for them. The food is the definition of "doing the most". If you really just want some simple bar food while enjoying some games...this is not your place. Every simple dish has to be too fancy for its own good. The wings come with exotic sauces and on beds or rice or vegetables, which you're just not in the mood for. The chicken fingers are simply unusual, the mozzarela sticks aren't what you're used to...it's just too much style and not enough substance. The food just feels like a misfit with the environment. On top of that, the quality of what should be a simple dish ends up not being the best either. I will however say that their crab cakes are good. Over-the-top presentation for sure...but they are of quality. The beer selection at the bar outside could be better considering that it is smaller. Most of the common/good beers are inside, which is annoying when you're enjoying the game outside. Again, it's a small thing, but they ad up. The atmosphere swings wildly from week-to-week. If the game lineup is good, Alstarz will be jumping. If it's rather corny that week, it will be dead. Football Fans: BEWARE OF SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL! Do not venture here! The place is absolutely DEAD for SNF. My friend and I were the last two in the bar as the small crowd slowly dwindled, and they turned the Cowboys - Falcons game off with 10 seconds to go. It's not like it was a 6 point game with the Cowboys in striking distance as I'm sitting there with a Cowboys jersey on...oh...wait. Smply put, as much as Alstarz wants to be a sports bar, they're really just a faux-fancy restaurant in sports-bar clothing. This leads to a rather disappointing experience if you're not there with good people. After this past Sunday, I'm scouting new places to enjoy games at.
