Students led by prof. Andrej Trost, from Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Ljubljana, are working on VGA output on Red Pitaya. Here you can read more about what prof. Trost said about the test:

“For this test, we plugged our module with the VGA connector on it to the Red Pitaya extension connector, and to the code we added FPGA component for VGA (800 x 600) graphics plotting, which currently draws logo, test text and a color palette box. In the final version, we will make extension board, which will be designed for Red Pitaya and it will have a connector for the VGA monitor, a pair of buttons and a rotary encoder, so that we could use certain functions manually, in the way we can do that on standard oscilloscope.

We decided to do graphics with certain objects: in the 512x512 pixels window we will be sketching two charts, and besides that, there will be also available a text field. The buttons and rotary encoder will be used for the settings of the display. Originally, I wanted to show the content of the console, but that is way more complicated, and besides, this seems to me more useful for someone, who would like to have shown some measurements on the additional monitor. For display and buttons, we will be using 8 digital I / O, so that 8 still remains for the other extensions ...

I don´t know how far we will manage to get to the level SW, but HW and a small demo will be prepared by the end of the semester.”

The team led by Dejan Križaj, a professor at Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Ljubljana, Laboratory for Bioelectromagnetics, is developing an Ultrasound Transducer for brain stimulation, based on the Red Pitaya platform.
