Congratulations to Philippa Cox for cycling from Norway to Spain (That's roughly 5,000 miles pedalled) raising vital funds for Re~Cycle! She's almost made her target of £4,000 - why not give her a helping hand >> www.justgiving.com/fundraising/cycleodyssey

Here at Re~Cycle we love bikes and this September we are asking you to join us in celebrating cycling and help us to send our next container of bikes.

By celebrating the benefits and successes of bikes across the world we can help to make a huge difference to people’s lives. We are asking you to get involved by having some fun and raising a small amount of money to help us to carry on sending bikes to our partners.
Every £20 raised can help us send a bike to our local partners across Africa. The bikes can be life enhancing for the recipients be it through increased employment opportunities, improved access to health care and education.

You don’t even need to own a bike or get on a bike you just need to help us share the huge benefits they have to others. Click here to find out more >> www.re-cycle.org/celebrate-cycling

A huge thank you to everyone that joined us at this year’s Eroica Britannia. Last weekend, Chris, Leon and Pierson (a volunteer) spent 3 days at the infamous bicycle festival in the Peak District representing Re~Cycle. The Re~Cycle stall was a huge success, selling all the vintage bicycles and bike parts that were hauled down to generate funds to cover our running costs. Chris, our workshop mechanic even had the chance to take part in the Sunday ride!

Remember Halimatou - the Wonder Years Centre of Excellence school pupil, who featured in our Times Christmas Appeal? Our African Programmes Manager Jason recently arrived back in The Gambia to work with the WYCE team, and brought a framed copy of the photo for Halimatou to keep as a memento!

If you missed it, read the story here >>www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/public/timesappeal/article4631599.ece

It's been 521 days since Gary Taylor left home in an attempt to circumnavigate the globe on his bicycle to raise money for Re~Cycle. He’s currently ¾ of the way through his journey and has cycled a massive 24,135 km through 21 countries on 3 continents. Show your support >> www.VirginMoneyGiving.com/GearsWeNeverUse

Another 421 donated bicycles unloaded in Accra, Ghana last week. This was our 3rd container to Village Bicycle Project this year!

Bicycles from this shipment will be heading to Nyobok in the Upper East Region - a very rural area on the edge of the savannah, where subsistence farming is the main occupation, and public transport is almost non existent.

With 90+ drop-off points across the UK, you can easily donate your old bike and help change lives in Africa >> www.re-cycle.org

GREAT NEWS! Re~Cycle picked up a gong at the Business Charity Awards for our long term partnership with Halfords.

Thanks to the partnership more than 20,000 bicycles have been donated, resulting in an estimated 120,000 people in Africa benefiting from the scheme because bikes are generally shared. That’s 300 tonnes of bike saved from a life of disuse!

Thanks again to everyone at Re-Cycle Isle of Wight for delivering another truck full of bikes to our HQ. We would also like to give special thanks to Innerspaces Self-Storage for storing the bikes, all the wonderful volunteers for preparing and loading them, Bartletts Service Station for the truck rental and Wightlink Isle of Wight Ferries for providing the free crossing. A real community effort!
