This is a quick and easy recipe to try for your first attempt at breadmaking…as it is almost foolproof!! The traditional recipe calls for raisins, but I often substitute semi-sweet chocolate shavings, craisins and a new fave is pomegranate craisins. So feel free to experiment. There are a set of printables for gift giving Irish Soda Bread in a Mason Jar.

Holiday Home Tour – Music Room Christmas Tree
Oh Christmas Tree – Oh Christmas Tree – Musical Christmas Tree

Music is a big part of my life and family tradition. Our family is musical…singers, dancers, instrumentalists, composers. You name it, we got it. My sons all sing. My daughter plays flute and piccolo and sings like an angel. HIMself plays the piano and is a music history buff. I play French Horn, trumpet, hammered dulcimer, mountain dulcimer and will dance until I drop (literally)! My Mother sang, danced and played piano. My Daddy sang beautiful harmonies. My Grandfather played an Irish fiddle and always had a song ready to sing. You get the picture…we love music. #DIY #decorating  #ChristmasDecor

I consider myself a gentle disruptor. Although sometimes I can be overly enthusiastic, my medium of disruption is wild, passionate curiosity. I am intrigued by everything and everyone around me.  I want to know your story and why. This curiosity is why I am a journalist and talk show host. Social media is my platform and how I thrive. #cbias   #sofab
Learning curiosity is a beautiful part of my life. Insatiably curious, I love to learn and share that knowledge with others...my job is so satisfying.

Week of Gratitude ~ My Imagination and the Multi-Colored Horse - Cre8tive Compass Magazine

The best part of my imagination was documented by my kindergarden teacher, Mary Kaye McCabe. She recorded a story I told my classmates about a multi-colored pet horse my grandparents had. She gave me high praise for a grand imagination…except we didn’t have a horse who wore pink petticoats and ate apples and sugar in my bedroom. :) The more of the story I told, the more my classmates were entranced. That horse, at that exact moment, was real to them and to me.

Trust me that horse was exactly like that in my imagination!
This week at People for Others, Paul Campbell, SJ, is hosting a Week of Gratitude. Since gratitude is my word for the year, I find this especially helpful on my journey.  The theme for this week is Gratitude for the Little Things in Life. Spiritual writers like Ginny Kubitz Moyer, Matt Weber, Mark E. Thibodeaux, SJ, Julianne Stanz, and Joe …

GREAT READ: I have always described myself as: "If you would open the top of my head, thousands of colorful ideas would come jumping out." I do all of these except #3. I broke my skipper in 2003! :( I make up for by dancing. +Ted Rubin

I believe that your breakfast nook should be a bright an happy place to launch your day. Mine is a happy happy place...I hope. My decorating style is evident here - vintage, casual, with a dash of whimsey. The table and Hoosier that HIMself and I rebuilt and restored is the focal point of one wall. My red with coral overtones predominates to otherwise neutral space. #breakfastnook   #diy   #diychristmas   #decor   #decorating

A handmade Christmas is such a blessing for me. Creating something from nothing makes my heart sing. I created some Felt Christmas Trees from Recycled Wool Sweaters a few years ago. I often search through thrift stores for items to repurpose. This year I have scored some great finds for holiday crafting projects. I often find  good wool sweaters that I can felt for creative projects. I most often create purses with them. This particular sweater, from The Gap, kept calling to me to create a cone-shaped tree from it. So I listened. #Felt ChristmasTree #Recycled  Wool Sweaters

Compiling a Food Lovers Ultimate Wish List is a fun pastime for me. As a foodie and DIY blogger, I am always day-dreaming of my next delectable creation. Since becoming a Wayfair Homemaker, I find myself regularly drooling over the pages of Wayfair.com for special creative ideas. And the creative ideas flood my mind every time I visit. I am creating my ultimate wish list from Wayfair for this holiday post. As you may have guessed, I receive compensation from Wayfair to share, but all opinions and choices are my own. #ad
