GREAT READ: I have always described myself as: "If you would open the top of my head, thousands of colorful ideas would come jumping out." I do all of these except #3. I broke my skipper in 2003! :( I make up for by dancing. +Ted Rubin
We talk and write a lot about what we are teaching our children and what they are learning from us – but if we only focus on one side of this teaching/learning relationship, we are missing some of the greatest examples of our lives. Following are my 12 most important lessons we can learn from ...

I believe that your breakfast nook should be a bright an happy place to launch your day. Mine is a happy happy place...I hope. My decorating style is evident here - vintage, casual, with a dash of whimsey. The table and Hoosier that HIMself and I rebuilt and restored is the focal point of one wall. My red with coral overtones predominates to otherwise neutral space. #breakfastnook   #diy   #diychristmas   #decor   #decorating

A handmade Christmas is such a blessing for me. Creating something from nothing makes my heart sing. I created some Felt Christmas Trees from Recycled Wool Sweaters a few years ago. I often search through thrift stores for items to repurpose. This year I have scored some great finds for holiday crafting projects. I often find  good wool sweaters that I can felt for creative projects. I most often create purses with them. This particular sweater, from The Gap, kept calling to me to create a cone-shaped tree from it. So I listened. #Felt ChristmasTree #Recycled  Wool Sweaters

Holiday Home Tour – Music Room Christmas Tree
Oh Christmas Tree – Oh Christmas Tree – Musical Christmas Tree

Music is a big part of my life and family tradition. Our family is musical…singers, dancers, instrumentalists, composers. You name it, we got it. My sons all sing. My daughter plays flute and piccolo and sings like an angel. HIMself plays the piano and is a music history buff. I play French Horn, trumpet, hammered dulcimer, mountain dulcimer and will dance until I drop (literally)! My Mother sang, danced and played piano. My Daddy sang beautiful harmonies. My Grandfather played an Irish fiddle and always had a song ready to sing. You get the picture…we love music. #DIY #decorating  #ChristmasDecor

I consider myself a gentle disruptor. Although sometimes I can be overly enthusiastic, my medium of disruption is wild, passionate curiosity. I am intrigued by everything and everyone around me.  I want to know your story and why. This curiosity is why I am a journalist and talk show host. Social media is my platform and how I thrive. #cbias   #sofab

Beachy Christmas Brunch Tablescape ~ DIY Stenciled Cloth & Napkins...I am excited to work with Royal Design Studio and their lovely Victoria Lace Doily stencil for my Beachy Christmas Brunch Tablescape. I love the art of stenciling. I even edited a stenciling magazine (The Artistic Stenciler) for about 12 years. I am creating a tablecloth and napkins with the stencil. I even have a special use for the stencil later in this post. :) Look for more holiday DIY ideas by following #royaldesignstudio on social media! #royaldesignstudio
