Did you know that your shower is your home’s second biggest water user? Switching to low flow shower heads can save you money in both water and electricity costs.

The federal standard shower head flow rate is 2.5 gallons per minute (GPM). Low flow shower heads with the WaterSense label use 2 GPM or less. But if your shower head is from the 1980’s or earlier, it could be using over 3.5 GPM!

Starting the new year with a little skip in our step! Thank you, Ms. Webber, for e-mailing us this thoughtful testimonial:

"I recently had a service call with Ray’s Plumbing due to a leak in my ceiling. Phil Laugois was sent to my residence and diagnosed the problem very quickly, he was very professional and courteous and the cost of the repair was very fair. I was impressed with his work and would feel very confident to recommend Ray’s Plumbing to all my friends Thank you all very much for a job well done. Hope everyone has a wonderful Holiday. - Sincerely, Dee Webber"

Here's a fun, holiday-themed way to make sure your guests only flush what they should... Be sure to provide a waste basket (decorative, of course!) for other disposable items. Enjoy a clog-free holiday!

"Where'd the hot water go?"

Having overnight guests for the holidays? Make sure you have enough hot water to go around by giving your water heater a 15 minute break in between showers & other water usage. If you entertain often, consider investing in a larger tank.

Repiping means replacing all of the lines (pipes) supplying hot and cold water to your home. Instead of copper pipes or CPVC, we install PEX-a pipes (by Uponor). For you as a homeowner, PEX translates to a long-lasting, health and environment-safe, leak-resistant plumbing system. Learn more about PEX: http://www.raysplumbinginc.com/plumbing-services/repiping/#uponor

Wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Here's a tip to keep your holiday "flowing" smoothly. Avoid clogs by keeping these items out of your drain and garbage disposal:

- Grease, fat & cooking oil
- Bones
- Gravy
- Celery & other stringy vegetables
- Potato peels
- Pumpkin pulp

If you do have a plumbing emergency, give us a call. We'll be there to save the day! 941.629.2500.
