This whole thing about copyright reminds me of something about consent. The nude photos were released without the consent of the model. So the photographer was not authorized to distribute the content. It's standard practice for film & tv producers to get a signed release to avoid litigation. Of course, the content was stolen so now anyone who distributes it is an accessory to theft and breach of privacy.

Although copyright is often cited, I think the privacy issue is bigger. Technology has aided in reducing our privacy. Now we hear things like, "If you don't want anyone to find your secret photos, don't make them in the first place. It's naive to think your secrets are safe online."

So much for a free society if we can't act responsible and be good citizen. The other side of the coin is that posing nude is naughty even if done in privacy and watching porn is naughty even when viewed privately. We want freedoms but we also want certain behaviors regulated. Who dares take the moral high ground when the slopes are slippery?

Don't rights holder control the reproduction and distribution of the work?

For example:

A corporation can hold the copyright to a work.
Corporations don't take pictures, write or compose music either.

Isn't this what the photographer is asserting?

I'm gonna hoard all my Inbox invites. It might be worth something if I hold it for another year.

I am Canadian and work on TV shows (on hiatus)
Introduction
So yes, I am Canadian and I've worked on a few TV shows in Vancouver and Toronto. I've just taken a slight one-year career detour from production accounting and on contract with the OMDC (Ontario Media Development Corporation) as a Business Officer where I review and certify TV, film and digital media tax credits.

My last gig was with Shaftesbury Films, producers of Murdoch Mysteries and The Listener and Smokebomb Entertainment. I had worked on Stargate SG-1 and Outer Limits when I lived in Vancouver. Oh and I did a ton of movies-of-the-week and pilots. Somewhere in between, Gnomeo & Juliet and Hoodwinked 2 were made too. I've been involved with some interactive digital media projects:
I guess if I wasn't working in film and TV I'd like to work for a start-up (like early Google!) and play with cool technology or go back to grad school.

According to Reid Hoffman (LinkedIn), my career should be permanent beta. So check out my other profiles and drop me a line if you're interested in networking.

Going there is all about the ESPRESSO and you're warmly welcomed by the courteous staff and the shops' knowledgeable proprietor Sameer. Expect a line up during their peak morning rush. Not much of a sit down place - it's tiny. Better as a grab-and-go. As a regular, I recommend getting a coffee card. This place is the antithesis of Starbucks and their bloated drink menu. Fahrenheit reminds us why many support local indie cafes.
