Did someone say wine and cheese?

They’re two of the greatest things in the world…wine and cheese! And on the evening of the 22nd and 28th September, you can indulge in them both to your heart’s content at Piper Collective in Woolner.

Piper Collective stock the finest of wines in Darwin and even have their own wine club! It’s a place run by the locals for the local wine lovers, with a climate controlled cellar to withstand our tropical weather. It is a wine-o’s heaven here in the Top End, and some of the Ray White Bayside team can vouch for that!

For just $30 on these dates you can nab an hour’s space in their cool and contemporary tasting room, and sample six of the greatest Australian wines from around the country – whilst learning all about them too! Piper Collective’s very own experienced sommelier has picked out the best ones for the occasion…and the very best cheeses that best go with them!

Of course, this event is for adults only, so if you’ve got kids, it’s time to book the baby-sitter or perhaps grandma! Due to the huge popularity of these evenings, spots are limited to just 12 spaces, so be sure to book in as soon as you can!

To do that and find out more about these exciting events, visit, or contact Kelly Hope on 0416 449 209 to make your booking.
We will see you on Cloud Wine!

Spend the day down at Cullen Bay and take in that incredible view!

Cullen Bay is one of Darwin’s most beautiful suburbs. With both the gorgeous marina and the beach in the vicinity, it isn’t surprising why! The Ray White Bayside team love nothing more than to head down for a bite to eat in one of the many amazing cafes and restaurants. Quite literally, it’s like its own little world down there and definitely worth exploring!

There is literally something to suit everyone’s taste too, and with a Thai, Indian, Greek, fish and chips and pizza restaurant (to name a few), you’re going to be spoilt for choice! You can also feast like a king with a majestic view to match at Seafood on Cullen Bay. Fill your boots with a delicious seafood buffet, whilst watching the sun set over the Timor Sea. It really doesn’t get much better than this!

Cullen Bay isn’t just the best place to catch the sunset either. That’s because you can grab a tasty brekky down at The Boatshed Coffee House and the biggest coffee you will ever get your mits on! Start your morning the right way with stunning marina views and eggs just the way you like them. Oh, and they also put out bread to feed the local marina fish – it’s like the icing on the cake!
Even if you fancy a night on the beers outside of the hustle and bustle of the CBD, Cullen Bay is home to Lola’s. A quirky bar perched on the corner of the marina, with its whacky and unique interior, and their extensive range of banging burgers and beverages, you will not be disappointed here!

With so much going on down at Cullen Bay, it really is the ideal location to spend your weekends. Head down and see for yourself!

And if you’re keen to make Cullen Bay your home, you can give us a call or drop us a line here at the Ray White Bayside team. We’d be more than happy to tell you all about the exciting sale and rental listings we have in this amazing suburb, so get in touch today!

You’re in for a splashing time at this year’s Water Safety Week!

The 2017 Water Safety Week kicks off once again with Splashfest on Sunday 24th September down at the spectacular Darwin Waterfront. From 9am till 1pm, MC Amy Hetherington will be hosting a free family fun event on the lawns, with entertainment and activities, such as jumping castles and waterslides, face painting and glitter tattoos, arts and crafts, and much, much more! And this year will feature an illuminated coral display projected onto the Cinema 360 dome, which is set to be the biggest feature of the event! It sounds pretty cool, ay?

Water Safety Week is a Territory Government initiative, which focuses on creating awareness about keeping ourselves and others safe in the water. The Kids Alive website states that drowning is the greatest cause of accidental death in children under five in Australia, so as adults, it is important that we keep an eye on our kids at all times, and learn the basics of CPR, should a disastrous event ever occur. We also need to be abiding by the safe alcohol limits and looking out for ourselves and our mates too when we are enjoying good times, in and around water.

So, in addition to the four hours of non-stop fun and entertainment, there will also be a huge variety of useful information on water safety available, including live demonstrations from the Lifeguards themselves. It’s the perfect combination of learning and fun for both adults and kids. Add this free event to your calendar this September, and the Ray White Bayside team will see you there!

On Wednesday 13th September, the Darwin RSL will be turning the big 100!

On Wednesday 13th September 1917, a “Concert and Dance” was held at the RSL to raise funds to form a branch of The Returned Sailors and Soldiers Imperial League of Australia in Darwin. A whole century later, Darwin RSL still remains an iconic Darwin location for former and current Defence force members and their families, and they want to celebrate in style with a week of commemorative events.

The week of events will begin with a church service on Wednesday 13th September at the Christ Church Cathedral Darwin at 3.30pm. A two-hour cocktail party will follow in the evening, commencing at 5pm at the Darwin RSL for current and past guests, and their family and friends. Then the big event and formal dinner will be held on Saturday 16th September at SKYCITY Darwin.

The evening will commence at 6.30pm with pre-dinner drinks, followed by a three-course meal and a five-hour free drinks package – sounds good to the Ray White Bayside team! Not only that, you will be in for a night full of entertainment and guest speakers too. Being a formal event, a dress code does apply, “Territory Formal” to be precise. That means a dinner suit or tux for the gents and evening wear for the ladies.

Tickets cost is $185 for the formal dinner and you can get them from More information on the other events is available on the website too! So, get your glad rags on and join us for a celebratory night with delicious food and drinks. Happy century Darwin RSL! And here’s to many more years of serving and supporting returned servicemen and women!

Saturdays are for the Parap Markets!

One of the greatest things about living here in Darwin is the market culture. We love them so much here that the Parap Markets have been on each and every Saturday since 1982 – rain or shine!

What better way to begin your weekend than a wander through the markets, just five minutes away from the city in Parap Village. Enjoy some multicultural cuisine, browse some Territory hand-made crafts and soak up the laidback vibes. It’s the perfect spot to catch up with friends under the shade of the trees and umbrellas with live music playing weekly. Or maybe you fancy a massage? You can even get your tarot cards read by the local spiritual folk too! There is literally something for everybody and you’re sure to have a great time!

You will be supporting local businesses too! Whether it be trying some dishes from our Asian neighbours, getting in your weekly greens from the local farmer, or buying your cant-live-without beauty products that were made right here in the Top End, you will be making a positive difference to the lives of the business owners and actively contributing to the growth and prosperity of your local community.

So, join the Ray White Bayside team in starting your weekend the right way, and head down to the Parap Markets between 8am and 2pm each Saturday for some proper Territorian atmosphere. Oh, and we recommend getting the Laksa – you won’t regret it! See you there!

Why you should consider living in Larrakeyah

Sandwiched just nicely between the busyness of Darwin’s colourful CBD and the tropically picturesque Cullen Bay, Larrakeyah is one of Darwin’s oldest and most sought-after suburbs. Whether you want to buy or rent, this is the perfect spot for suburban life in the heart of the city.

Just a walk away from town, Cullen bay, and not to mention Mindil Beach (did someone say a weekly trip to the markets?) and the George Brown Botanic Gardens, it really is a great place to live with everything you need right on your doorstep.

Larrakeyah is named after the Indigenous language group that occupied much of the Darwin coastal area since before the European settlement. Starting with the creation of the Botanic Gardens, Larrakeyah originated in the 1800’s but was not established as a residential area until 1911, for senior public servants.

A whole century later, Larrakeyah is now an interesting and thriving suburb, which is home to the Larrakeyah Barracks and a dense and ever increasingly diverse population of long time locals, indigenous and transient residents, who come to work during the Dry Season.

From old classic houses (the very first built after Cyclone Tracy) to newly built apartments, this suburb has it all, and makes it a popular spot for both home owners and renters.

Call into the Ray White Bayside office to have a chat and see what is on offer in the area. You could become part of the popular Larrakeyah community and come to experience for yourself why this suburb is one of Darwin’s best-loved.

Top Tips for Buying Your First Home in Darwin!

So, you’ve reached that point in your life where you’re ready to buy your first home, but you’re just so overwhelmed on where to start to make this happen? We agree that it can be an overwhelming process, but this is why we are here! Here are a few of our top tips to get you on your way to being a home owner.

• Tip 1 - Get yourself a Mortgage Broker: There’s a lot of confusion and uncertainty around borrowing money for your mortgage. With a Mortgage Broker, they are there to provide you with the support you need and will help you find the right home loan for your individual situation. They’re pros for a reason and can fully advise you on the borrowing ins and outs, and all of the features available. This is their job after all!

• Tip 2 - Plan a budget and save the biggest deposit you can: This is probably the single most important thing you need to do when considering buying a home. Plan a budget and stick to it! Yes, it may be tough, but that way you will get a clear picture of what home loan you can afford and it will show your potential lender that you can exercise financial discipline. Plus, the bigger the deposit you have, the bigger the equity you have in your property right from the start, which means you’ll pay less interest!

• Tip 3 - Take full advantage of the First Home Owner Grant: And do it early! The best time to apply for the grant is at the same time you apply for your home loan. It is important to get it in at this time so that the government authority administers it in time for your settlement. If you do not do this, you will still have 12 months to wait from settlement to apply – and sometimes even longer!

There are of course many other factors to consider when buying your first home, but starting with these tips will set you up on the right path. For more advice and information, call into the Ray White Bayside branch for a chat, we will be happy to help you.
