Boiling things can be fun!

This is worth watching, just for the mesmerizing slow-mo capture of the Mercury meeting the liquid Nitrogen, if nothing else

It's been one of those days that prompted me to write the first couple of lines to this song. A repost, but if you're disheartened by the world and news, maybe this will help you also.

(I also know for a fact that +Jessica Northey  likes it. ;-)

Just heard that Bob Casale of Devo passed away yesterday at the far-too-young age of 61. Devo has been and continues to be one of the most influential performance groups in my life. They were always more than just a band, and the news saddens me greatly.

I've added a black band of mourning to the Energy Dome. It seemed appropriate.

Last night I was on a music forum reading a thread asking if anyone had done Blade Runner tribute pieces or covers. I thought that sounded like fun, so I made it my arrangement and production experiment for the evening.

Thanks, +Scott Mansfield, I'm glad you enjoyed it! It was quite interesting doing it. As I wrote in my blog post, this is the first time I've ever actually tried to dissect some of the chord changes and tricks Vangelis used.

I think all it needs at this point is some tingly little bells and some swooshy noise sweeps.

If Adele ever released an album like this, I would buy it in a heartbeat. +Andy Rehfeldt I hope you start getting major remix contracts... you're certainly worthy of them!

Yowza! (and I don't say that lightly...) I had to check and make sure it wasn't April 1. Korg today announced that they're going to develop/reboot the Arp Odyssey with a target release of September 2014.

Can't wait to hear the prototypes!

The needle going into my shoulder was the easy part. For the next minute or two, I was desperately trying to think of song lyrics, counting floor tiles, examining my shirt laying on the chair three feet away, Hello Kitty… … Continue reading →

My “quick and dirty” challenge for tonight came from a thread over on Gearslutz. The original poster asked if anyone had done any Blade Runner tributes or “in the style of” pieces. I thought that sounded like fun, so I … Continue reading →

Introduction
I'm a multi-disciplinary, mid-brained, artistic geek with a weird predilection for business. Luckily, I've convinced people to pay me to be just that.

A musician with a management day job, my income from music is inversely proportional to my income from management. I tend to write about gadgets, music production, synthesizers, and 16th century socioeconomic trends. And cake.
Bragging rights
I have completed approximately 72% of almost every videogame I've ever played. I am also well-versed in 80s music and pop culture trivia.
