I'm not afraid to admit it. I giggled maniacally when I saw this.

Today has been a rough day. Had to bury an old friend. Never even got to say goodbye.

Han Shot First double IPA, by Pizza Port Brewing.

Aggressively hopped, but with a nice floral finish.

Wow. Are you guys seeing this sunrise right now? Really makes you think about how today is a new day, full of new opportunities. Let the past be past. Embrace a new day, and make it one to be proud of.

That is all.

That was yesterday for me. Today, my boy let me sleep.  But, the sunset up here was amazing last night. Had a chance to sit on my own and appreciate things, enjoy a beer, get some backyard stuff done.   ...and then the mosquitos found me.  But still, all good.

My fiancée thinks it's funny to give my cats some dairy before she leaves. Because apparently it's funny to make me deal with gassy cats.

A bit of background. My SO, some family, and I visited the San Diego zoo last week, which has two new, young tigers that were just transferred.

The height that the tiger leapt up to was about equal to the ledge you get a glimpse of at the bottom of the video near the end.

So, yeah, the tiger has some ups.

Great Lei, by Belching Beaver. Imagine a pins colada, but with subtle IPA undertones. Surprisingly good.

This place has some of the best Italian food I've had in years, with prices that won't make your wallet cry out in pain. They make almost all of their noodles in house that day, so you know you're getting your food fresh. It's a small, family owned business, as well, which I really like. And, because it's such a cozy restaurant, it adds an aura of intimacy that a lot of other places lack. Whether you're dining in, or getting it to go, their food is amazing. Can't recommend Cafe Di Roma enough!

Good: live music on Friday nights. Fantastic food, with a large menu (try the chicken chipotle fries, or if you're feeding a family, ask for the "ghetto burrito!"). They make their own beans for use in their food. It's never a long wait for food. Want crepes, but don't know where to go? These guys have them, and they're good! They're expanding their location in a few months. More yummy food, in a larger location! Bad: because of the construction, they're also renovating their AC unit, so it can get warm in there. I haven't had all of their different menu options, despite really trying hard over the last 3 years. I've never had a bad meal there. The staff at El Cilantro are good people, and they take care of their customers. You can always tell if a place has good Mexican food by how busy they are, and El Cilantro's staff are always busy. They've got a diverse menu, so it's almost guaranteed that you'll find something you enjoy. Just try it. You won't be disappointed.

Absolutely great staff! These people are the best. They're not a chain, who hire just anybody. These people are knowledgeable, and enjoy what they do. Prices are pretty consistent with what you'll get just about anywhere, and they're willing to custom order products for you, too. Never be afraid to walk in and ask them questions.

My girlfriend and I went here about a month after they opened, and I have to say, I was incredibly impressed. In fact, in the 4 days that we were in Big Bear, we went TWICE. The service and staff were both top notch! The food was really great (try their Kitchen Sink Burger). And as a craft beer enthusiast I was impressed with their selection. The only sad part was the fact that, since they were so new, they hadn't had a chance to work out a distribution deal, so I couldn't buy anything bottled. Fortunately, they offer growlers, which I obviously got! Honestly, if you're in Big Bear and don't go here, you're shorting yourself.

So, my girlfriend and I were in Big Bear for a few days, and looking for something fun and local to do. We called Designated Watersports, and had all of our questions answered (and trust me, we had a bunch!). The guy was incredibly friendly, and willing to talk us through the rental and operation process. When we got there, we found out that it's just a small, one man business, and man was he a super nice, really personable guy. Afterwards, when our rental time was up, we asked if we could just do a quick loop while he took pictures, and he took a ton of fantastic ones. Can't recommend these guys enough.

Incredibly friendly staff. Always willing to chat and be personable. While I don't attend enough to get to know each one (and for them to know me), you can tell in the way they talk to their regulars that they care about the pets. That alone is a huge motivating factor to go.
