Keep Austin Weird. Austin Bats

Austin winter sunrise...

Austin is the capital of the US state of Texas and the seat of Travis County. Located in Central Texas, Austin is the 11th-most populous city in the United States and the fourth-most populous city in Texas. It was the third-fastest-growing large city in the nation from 2000 to 2006. Austin is also the second largest state capital in the United States. Austin had a July 1, 2013 population of 885,400 (U.S. Census Bureau estimate). The city is the cultural and economic center of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area, which had an estimated population of 1,883,051 as of July 1, 2013.

Photo and text via the US Bureau of Land Management:

The morning commute is a little different at Yellowstone National Park. Cameron Patrick captured this photo on a cold morning — just after the bison herd had waded through a river along side the road. The bisons’ body heat caused the water to turn to steam in the cold air, creating the mist around the bison.

—————

I was interviewed by Spanish media this evening as we lead up to the council agenda item to officially name Jenni Rivera Memorial Park, an effort spearheaded by my colleague Councilmember Dee Andrews.

Jenni Rivera's legacy will forever live within those lives that she has touched and continues to touch as her life mission is carried on by her family and friends.

Honoring her memory and body of work serves to inspire Long Beach residents in their personal pursuits toward success. Thank you for making a huge difference in #LongBeach, and beyond, Jenni!

My short interview will be broadcast on Estrella TV and Telemundo tonight!
