I don't know +Wil Reynolds
well, but his mention in this video where he said he checked his clients traffic stats before he ever checked the company bank account in the mornings is something more people need to hear, digest, understand and realize the profoundness of.
As a career affiliate long before being an agency owner, this was always the first thing I did in the morning. You may be thinking "well, they were your own sites"
. But, that habit continued when I started my agency.
A typical day for me is getting up before 6AM. I make my coffee (sweet, sweet coffee) and then the first website I visit upon opening my laptop is my +Raven Tools
dashboard. I check the stats for each site we manage, as well as my affiliate sites. I go in alphabetical order - there is no "favoritism" between client sites and my own sites.
In fact, to be honest, I check the traffic stats of "one time service" clients (like audits) I did in the past and still have access to as well.
In short, if you give a genuine shit about your clients, you'll have a successful agency. Yes, you need to be good at what you do - but if all your agency is to you is a money grab, well, you may need to reevaluate who you are as an individual (sometimes the truth hurts). #SEO #entrepreneurship
