yet I returned to the "roots" with "dawn" and tried that reluctance of shape and bluring of light. in the months that interceded it grew on me and it is maybe one of my favorites now!!

in the end of the past winter I tried some playfull coloring with my constellations with this(!) result. I can say that it provided me with some peace of mind since I itched to actually do something like that! :)

this painting was my (emotional) response to a beautiful gesture of a Hellenic Navy Officer during the Christmass-time... because of it I wanted to paint something not just maritime but clearly HN. It is a sailor on a Standard-Type Frigate which is passing by Piraeus on its way home!
...
the title of it, is the expression used by Homer to describe the day of return of Odysseus to Ithaka, his Home, after 20 years of absence....

winter is here alright, yet there are those clear (freezing cold) nights where from where I live in Kalamaria I have a stunning view of Thessaloniki. that is how this particular painting came to be... I finished it on my birthday on the 28th of DEC and posted it... today is another such beautiful clear (cold) night... only the moon is much much brighter this time... anyway, maybe I will revisit the theme sometime...

I started reading a collection of poems by Edgar Allan Poe the other day (I think it was the 11th Dec) ,,, Poe moving as always made me start daydreaming and as pictures where rushing through my head, I took advantage of the fact that I was home alone and undisturbed and painted "the sleeper", finishing it in one session! Hope you like it...
