We are at a time where resources seem abundant but to utilize the basics of Aquaponics/Hydroponics and Sustainability principles is the next wave of preventing resource scarcity with an ever increasing demand.

What Fish is Right for You?

You must know what kind of environment you can offer, if they are meant to be food, and if you intent do breed them.

Some of your most common fish are:
✔Tilapia
✔Trout
✔Goldfish
✔Carp
✔Catfish
✔Koi
✔Largemouth Bass
Wiill you raise fish just to give nutrients to your plants? Or will you be eating them? Here are 7 aquaponics fish species that can be used for either.

That looks like it should work well for you.  Have you thought about a solids lifting drain from the fish tank?  If you replace the 90° with a T and run a pipe to just above the bottom of the fish tank it will vacuum the waste into your new filter.  I've been running mine that way and it works great!  Just a suggestion, got yourself a sub!

Coldest temps of the year (teens and single digit lows for several days) but things are doing relatively well considering I have about 1000 gallons of water and plants heated by two aquarium heaters, a small solar water heater, a gas buddy heater (only for the coldest nights), and the radiant heat inside the greenhouse. You can see the plants are a little wilted from the cold last night but hanging in there. Things just grow really slowly.

Aquaponics the sustainable fusion of Agriculture and Aquaculture.
Introduction
Aquaponics is the future of Agriculture and Aquaculture rolled into one synergistic ecosystem. The fish provide the nutrients to the plants and the plants provide the clean water for the fish.  Aquaponics is great for dry environments and for people who want to conserve water.  Aquaponics use up to 95% less water than traditional farming methods.
