The Illinois Central Rail Road engine 201 is the oldest surviving example of a commuter steam engine. It was built in 1880 and used to haul visitors to the Columbian Exhibition in Chicago in 1893. It ran it's last commuter run in 1926 and now is on display at the Illinois Railway Museum.
Built in 1929 the Avalon Theater on Milwaukee's south side was a landmark for many years until falling into disrepair in the 1990s. Today it is reborn and renovated complete with a bar, lounge and restaurant open to the public.
