Spent the weekend road testing Earthwork's PianoMic (PM40)system. Having heard it earlier this year at NAMM - on Michael Spreeman's fabulous Ravenscroft piano - I was eager to try it out for myself on my Estonia l-190, in my own studio environment. Suffice to say that it is an amazing product and I am thrilled with the results. Check out the video for more!

Here's a brief video outlining some methods I use to reharmonize a tune. It is assumed that you are already familiar with jazz chord voicings, extensions/alterations & substitutions. If you want to check out this version you can download the lead sheet for the reharmonization at:

Lovely Saturday spent catching up with Esperanza! Enjoyed 're-harm-ed' standards by the trio (Esp, Geri Allen, Terri-Lyne) later that evening at Scullers.

My choral arrangement of a Stevie Wonder tune performed by the exuberant choir at St. Paul's, Newton, MA (with some of my students) accompanied by some wonderful jazz musicians - Tucker, Brad & Moses, at the church's first Jazz Sunday!

JAZZ SUNDAY!
Just wanted to let you all know of a special musical event happening this Sunday Nov 06, @ 10:30AM. I recently scored original jazz service and choral music to lyrics by The Rev’d Gretchen Grimshaw for the wonderful singers at St. Paul's Church in Newton. The choir will perform alongside a jazz quartet including myself, Tucker Antell (saxes/flute), Brad Barrett (bass), Moses Eder (drums). You will also hear vocal 4-part arrangements of tunes by Stevie Wonder and Ralph Carmichael. I might recommend being there by 10:20AM, as we're also performing a prelude in store prior to the service!

Venue:
St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1135 Walnut St. Newton Highlands, MA 02461
10:30AM. Event is open to public.

Termed the largest green civil disobedience campaign in a generation - please join and send your message to the WhiteHouse to protest against the proposed construction of the 1,600-mile long Keystone pipeline - this would transport oil from the Alberta tar sands in Canada to American refineries at the Gulf of Mexico through 6 states in the US. Pres. Obama - remember what you promised us in your inauguration speech!
