I would like to share with you something that has given me immense joy and inspiration in the past couple of months, and invite you to take part in it.

I have been participating in Shanti's choir for a couple of months now, and I can tell you this - every song, every movement, every note has filled me with joy and has moved me deeply, because it is much more than a musical production.

Shanti is a celebration of Peace, and an ancient Wisdom that recognized our essential oneness and completeness, where "our" is not limited to a nation, religion, culture, or even species, but to all of creation. Every time I take part in a practice, I walk away feeling more at peace, more in wonder of Life, than before.

I would like to share the joy and inspiration with you. Please do come. I promise you, it will be amazing.

There are going to be only three shows. So, you will need to grab your tickets ASAP.
Shanti – A Journey of Peace has wowed audiences for over 10 years, in the Eastern, Midwestern and Southern Regions of the US.

"There is no meaningful risk of Christians committing acts of terror. If there were a group of radical Christians pledging to murder anyone who had a different religious view than they, we would have a different national security situation." -- Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)
There is an active shooter at the Planned Parenthood location in Colorado Springs and police are on the scene.

What a wonderful museum. You really get present to what a big difference the arduous work of printing made to our lives. Make sure you do the bonus tours, if you are here!

The next Republican who calls this country's health care system the best in the world needs to be drawn and quartered after being dipped in burning acid.

So, I had this procedure on my foot done about a month back, and was due back for the second part of it today. Between then and now, my insurance changed. Now, knowing I had this coming up, I got a platinum PPO plan from the same insurance company that I was on earlier (#BlueCross), through #CoveredCalifornia, the state healthcare exchange.

Except, #PAMF where my doctor is, is "not contacted with Blue Cross when it's obtained through Covered California."

To their credit, PAMF is working it out as we speak, trying to find options.

But here's the thing. If they can't, and if I can't afford this follow-up appointment, what, I'm supposed to hobble around with a half done procedure on my foot? Or get treated by a different doctor for the second half of the procedure alone?

Just thinking of it as an information system, who should/could have given me a heads up on this complication, without me calling PAMF, and going on the knowledge of whatever customer service person knows?

This is the best this country can do?

This sort of rhetorical pretzeling is not new. This reminds me of how the early Christians, needing to exculpate their hitherto oppressors, the Romans, created caricatures of villainy in the Jews. Netanyahu is doing the same thing, with the motivations reversed.

It's a vile thing to do, and leads you far from truth. Your lies start feeding your fear and hatred, leading you tell yourself and others more potent lies.

Then again, we already knew Netanyahu is a vile human being.
You read the headline right. Sometimes someone digs so deep down into bullshit that there comes a moment when they are entirely surrounded by it - up, down, right, left. Those are good moments to say: how did I get here? And how do I get out? Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had one of those moments today. But those questions did not occur to him. In case you're wondering: the headline is not a tease. In a speech Tuesday, in an effort t...

The problem with the new funding model of GOP campaigns is that there is a single point of failure. If the sugar daddy pulls the plug, you are dead in water.

Methinks Walker got Koch blocked.
Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin has concluded he no longer has a path to the Republican presidential nomination and plans to drop out of the 2016 campaign, according to three Republicans familiar with his decision.

Avul Pakeer Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam

Many illustrious men have adorned the office of the President of India - Rajendra Prasad, Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, Shankar Dayal Sharma. Some are remembered for their patriotism, for the sacrifice they made in their lives in service of the India, some for their intellect and philosophical depth. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam stands equals among them.

However, it is safe to say that no Indian President inspired the people, connected with the youth, campaigned - to his last day - for enlightened governance, service and education, as the man who is simply known as the People's President.

He has forever raised the bar for what a President, and a former President, should be. One could only pray for India to be blessed with many more Kalams.

Happy Pride!

It was exactly twelve years ago, when the Supreme Court released its opinion on Lawrence v Texas. I was watching C-SPAN and talking to my mom on phone.

And I heard Justice Kennedy say the words "When sexuality finds overt expression in intimate conduct with another person, the conduct can be but one element in a personal bond that is more enduring." It was uncommon for gay relationships to be talked about as anything more than just the sexual act, and the words instantly moved me to tears.

Such was the state of the world then, that mere recognition that gay people have deeper emotional lives was enough to move you to tears.
Today, look how far we have come. I don't mean gay people here. We, as a society, have come far in understanding a part of our own whole, and we are all richer for that.

The story of June becoming called Pride Month is that back in 1969, a bunch of Drag Queens stood up to police oppression and fought back, proclaiming the days of silent submission to power over.

In every saga of a people becoming free, there are three parts - the refusal to abide on the part of the oppressed, the intellectual and spiritual growth of the society at large to accommodate a new understanding of the oppressed, and the recognition of those in power of the injustice of the oppression and seeking to make amends.

That story of June as Pride month may now reflect this - it's the month where Drag Queens stood up to an unjust legal system, and people in ever greater numbers marched for their rights, and people in ever greater numbers marched for the rights of their friends, siblings, children, and neighbors, and it's the month when the Constitutional System responded, in ever broader ways, by removing the injustice.

Happy Pride
