SitRep: Operation Rapid Descent
Faction: Enlightened
Reporting:@Cyan017

Summary
Date: 22 May 2015
Number of Layered Fields: 21
Total MU: 22.25 Million
Agents on the ground: 10

Adam's Peak is a sacred mountain in Sri Lanka, where hundreds of pilgrims make an arduous journey up and down several thousand steps every day. But as @nAPs2JAAN started his long descent down the mountain on 22 May, he had another task before him - one that would put several million Mind Units under Enlightened control. Other teams were already moving to their positions even as he set off. It had been a few months since the Sri Lankan Enlightened carried out a major fielding operation. That was about to change.

Plan
The plan was to make layered fields from a line of portals at Adam's Peak, to two anchor portals to the Northwest and South. The targeted check point was at 2230. It was unlikely that all the layers could be completed before then, so our target was to make as many as we could and then complete the rest afterward.

Execution
Throughout the evening, agents had been systematically taking out blocking links and they were now closing in on the remaining few. These last few blockers would have to be taken out with precise timing. Half an hour before starting time, a new blocker created by a Resistance agent forced a slight change of plans as one of the teams split up to take out the new target.

With all the teams in position, the green light was given at 2140. Coordinated strikes from @iFeelYouJohanna, @AlienFX, @Capric0rN, @NadeeraLK, @fnx1024, and @ultraNytStalk3r destroyed all the remaining blockers within a couple of minutes. Standing by at the upper anchor was @SLpooh, while the lower anchor was guarded by @painkillerSL and @JohnsonPunka. As soon as the path was clear, they established the base link for the fields. A couple more links pulled around the fielding area eliminated all possibility of a blocking link to disrupt the plan.

At 2143,@nAPs2JAAN started his race against time. Moving quickly down the path despite heavy rain and occasional problems with bad phone reception, he made 19 layers in the next hour with only 4 falling outside the checkpoint. Once these were done,@JohnsonPunka and @iFeelYouJohanna made the final two layers from the two anchor portals, completing the op at 2250. The total MU count was 22,256,047 with 21 fields, making it one of the biggest ops the Sri Lankan Enlightened had done within the country.

So it's been 2 years. I've enjoyed the company of the friends I've made through this more than anything else related to Ingress. :)

One of the unique aspects of #IngressFS Colombo was the backstory quiz competition conducted by agents @Duval and @raitoyagami. The prizes were the Q-Workshop dice sent to us by Niantic.

An Ingress First Saturday event means a lot of different things to different people: meeting new friends and old enemies, organizing a cross-faction event, competing against each other on friendly grounds, and getting together as a community to ensure its own future.
Ingress FS Colombo was the maiden First Saturday event to be held in Sri Lanka, and incidentally, it was the first cross-faction event held within the Sri Lankan Ingress community as welll. While Sri Lankan Ingress agents have competed on an international level in the past, they have never had the chance to get together and organize their own cross-faction event.
IngressFS: Colombo was held on the 7th of March, 2015. It featured the classic elements of an FS event: competitions, prizes to be won, and all-round fun and friendship between the two factions.

The Z Crew comprising of members from both factions headed out at 10.30am to clear the surrounding area so that the games could begin at 11am. The agents from both factions battled it out to gain levels and AP, and the Sri Lankan Resistance managed to secure the City Prize for having the highest aggregated score for the AP Gain competition.
The total AP gain for the event from both factions was a whopping 4,942,724 AP while the total level gain was 13 levels. Afterwards, agents @Duval and @raitoyagami hosted a quiz competition based on the Ingress backstory and handed out Q-Workshop Ingress dice provided by NIA to the winners. The whole event was rounded off with a grand prizegiving.

It was wonderful to see old faces that we thought we would never see again in Sri Lankan Ingress turn up that day for this community event. It was heartening to see members of both factions working together tirelessly to make the event a success, showing that the rivalry of Ingress should be limited to the scanner. When we put our scanners down, the Sri Lankan Ingress community are the best of friends, and we are proud that IngressFS Colombo helped us to show that to the whole world.

This is agent @RamdeshLota signing off on behalf of the Sri Lankan Ingress community. See you at the next First Saturday event!

An old place we used to go to since our school days, to eat submarine sandwiches. Recently I tried their club sandwiches and they seem to be a great deal as well. Although service has deteriorated somewhat since the old days. :/

Not a bad place. The atmosphere is quite good, giving a '70s US feel. The food is good, especially the triple decker burger. I also had the opportunity to sample their root beer float, which is a rarity in Sri Lanka.

A great place to have an innovative meal. Service is as prompt as possible. They hold various events like their 'Monster Sizzler' challenge which are quite fun as well. Just make sure you either reserve a table or go at an optimum time to ensure you don't have to wait in a queue to get a table.
