I've been working on shots from The Glowing Stars last show ever. It was a great show! But also bitter sweet. I was really looking forward to their next album.

These are just some of the first shots. More to come.

Way more entertaining in my opinion.
The Olympics in LEGO.

The Guardian is re-created highlights from the Olympics in LEGO, for some reason.

The iPad was always a copy of the PADD. You just know there are more than a few designers and engineers at Apple that always wanted a PADD as kids so they grew up to make one.
We were always ahead of our time.

The Content of TWiT

I love TWiT but I am really disappointed that they’re cancelling all their science shows. The science shows, the ones that TWiT has decided not enough people watch, are some of my favorite on the network. It will be sad to see them go.

I realize that TWiT is concerned with profitability, keeping the lights on and paying their employees. These are good things to be concerned with. And I get that this last year was an expensive one and that they did not make what they wanted to with Game On. But the science shows cannot possibly be that expensive to run. They’re talking heads. And This Week in Science runs in the evenings when nothing else airs. Once it’s gone it’ll just be re-runs.

Dr. Kiki’s Science Hour is an interview show that actually lets the guests talk. It’s not about clips or sound bites. It’s a one hour conversation with actual scientists and it’s important for there to be an easily accessible home for that kind of content. Futures in Biotech, while admittedly I don’t listen to very often, is also a home for important content that wouldn’t otherwise have a place on the internet, or at least not a very prominent one. And that is what TWiT is supposed to be about. Content.

While the audience may be smaller when compared to the more profitable podcasts on the network, I think it’s a mistake to cancel those shows which aren’t making as much cash per episode as the flagship shows like This Week in Tech, or Windows Weekly. It’s a mistake because as Leo Laporte once said, “we do science because we think it’s important.” I just hope that giving up on science doesn’t fundamentally change what TWiT is all about. Content.

Since I want to start doing a bit of quilting I thought I would start with something simple. World, meet my new quilted wristlet. I’ll post links to my etsy shop when I post it there.

I can't believe there's only one more episode of Awake. It's so fantastic and yet no one seems to share this opinion. It's gripping and poignant and you really feel for the characters. It's like Ordinary People with a dash of sci/fi/fantasy. The cinematography is stunning. And the way the story moves in and out of each reality is seamless. It's a cop show that's about the people and not the cases. I'm so disappointed that it won't continue.
