New on the blog today. #adsense #affiliate #affiliatemarketing
Sometimes an AdSense unit won’t display an ad to a user for whatever reason. When an AdSense unit doesn’t show an ad, it leaves an odd amount of space within the content, and reduces my ability to monetize those pages – and I find that unacceptable. This used to be a much more significant problem,... Read More

New on the blog today. Super useful for both finding new affiliate programs in your niche and being alerted if a specific merchant launches an affiliate program. #affiliate #affiliatemarketing #affiliatetips
Google Alerts is a free service offered by Google that will alert you to new content Google finds on the web that contains keywords you specify. Google Alerts is most commonly recommended as a way to monitor your brand – and your competition’s brand – online. But I also use Google Alerts as a way... Read More

In mid-July of 2015, I decided to flip the Sugarrae.com site to https using SSL. In the last eighteen+ months, Google has been pushing hard to “make SSL happen.” They even said it might give you a bit of a rankings boost, no doubt knowing that tons of SEOs and business owners would begin flipping... New today by way of request from my blogger friends. #blogging #google #seo
This past weekend Google sent out a round of manual penalty notices citing “unnatural outbound links” – later confirmed to be targeting sites publishing compensated content and reviews where the blogger is linking out to the brand or site that compensated them. If your site received the notice, you’ll find some advice for fixing your... Read More

New on the blog. A deep dive into Paul Haahr's SMX presentation and a call for further, meaningful discussion surrounding it. #seo #searchengineoptimization #searchmarketing
If you follow me on Twitter, then you know I sometimes complain about the current state of the industry – most notably centered around what passes for research and discussion these days. It feels like people want to be handed the fish – with little interest in learning how the person with the fish caught... Read More

Part of what I love about being "visible" is being able to promote causes that are close to my heart. You may or may not know this, but I spent my teen years in foster care. I've been handed a trash bag to put my belongings in several times.

No kid should ever be handed a trash bag in that scenario and given the subconscious message that comes with that.

Please help me send them a better message.

Actual stats from the Sugarrae list when it comes to the value of popup subscribers vs. subscribers obtained via other methods. #emailmarketing #emailmarketingtips #onlinemarketing
In August I published a post examining a common question in email marketing – do email subscription pop-ups work? The post detailed how I went about implementing pop-ups via OptinMonster, as well as the results I attained in using them on two separate sites. Despite “most people” claiming they hate them, the results were clear:... Read More

Introduction
Rae Hoffman is the Co-Founder and CEO of PushFire.

Known in the online marketing community as Sugarrae, Rae is a well known affiliate marketing veteran and SEO consultant - in addition to being an columnist, speaker, successful entrepreneur and self proclaimed "White Collar Redneck".

When she's not busy watching her beloved Tampa Bay Buccaneers lose (usually horribly), you can find her shuffling her children to various practices or fundraising for the Houston American Heart Association.

Rae loves her truck, country music and has an irrational yet severe fear of birds. She also has little to no tolerance for laziness, people who wear socks with sandals and the every child gets a trophy mentality.

We called Polar Express after getting a recommendation from someone in our neighborhood Facebook group. I called at 4:30 and Cory was here by 6. When the unit was still frozen, Cory came back around 8, just so that he could get it fixed the same day. He was super nice and super knowledgeable and had us up and running at an extremely reasonable price. Finding an honest service provider these days can be a challenge, but Polar Express exceeded it. We won't be using anyone else for any future AC issues.

My son has been going to SLC for about a year now and sees Kristen L. We walked in with a confirmed ASD diagnosis right after my son's second birthday. He had about 4 words in his voluntary vocabulary, didn't point, had little eye contact and didn't call most of the family by name (though he parroted everything). In addition to not having much expressive language, it was clear to us he was just as behind on receptive language (understanding what WE said) as well. His third birthday is in two weeks and he's made huge progress. He calls everyone (including Kristen) by their names when he sees them. He not only has a ton of new single words, but he's stringing together phrases of 3 and 4 words on a fairly regular basis now. His eye contact is MUCH better. He will ask for what he wants, points and picks up new words as we teach them to him on a much easier basis now. And he LOVES going. He will quickly run to the door when asked if he wants to go and play with Kristen. We knew how important it was to choose a great speech therapist and a year later, I know we chose well. I highly recommend them!

If I could give this zero stars, I would. Granted, we were traveling in TO and ordered Chinese food at 2 am, but what we got was horrible. Delivery was in a timely manner and the delivery guy was nice. However, the food was simply awful. Wonton soup with no fried noodles. The "sweet and sour" chicken had no breading, the BBQ ribs had *no* sauce and zero flavor. The vegetable beef was like a frozen TV dinner. It was 3 am by the time it was delivered and even four starving people barely put a dent in 60 dollars worth of food. I'd seriously recommend something - anything - else.

I was completely terrified to make a mistake when I was hiring a pool contractor after reading tons of horror stories on the net, but eventually found a forum where Dave of Mystic Blue was highly recommended as a pool builder in Katy, TX. While he may not have been the "cheapest option", what he delivered was beyond our expectations. He designed our entire yard, which consisted of a pool, hot tub, fire pit, shade arbor and outdoor kitchen and was extremely hands on during the entire building process. And it was much quicker than we ever thought possible. I honestly cannot say enough good things about the experience we had with Dave. He went above and beyond and I'd gladly recommend him to anyone looking to hire a pool contractor in the Houston area.

We were renting a condo in Kemah for the weekend. We went to the IHOP because it was close. We didn't expect much with it two blocks from a tourist locale, but we were wrong. I was desperately in need of coffee and the waitress who had just finished cashing out a customer could have easily told me someone would be right with me. But she didn't. She happily brought us two coffees while we perused the menu to make a to go order. Then the manager took our to go order. He was in very good spirits, despite it being seven AM and verified he got our order right before placing it. Ten minutes later, our food was ready to go, complete with "these are all for kids" syrup quantities and cutlery. They refilled our to go coffees and wished us a great day. All of the food was well done. The pancakes are a bit smaller than what I've typically seen at IHOP, but the quality and service was much better than what I've typically seen at IHOP as well. We were very pleasantly surprised by this IHOP. So much so that we just got done eating ten minutes ago and I felt compelled to leave this review due to the fantastic and unexpected awesomeness of the restaurant.

After having the same hairdresser for seven years in Canada where I used to live, I was almost terrified to try someone new after moving to Katy. Unable to avoid finding someone new, I did some research, heard good things about Highland Salon and in particular, Mindy. The Salon and Mindy did not disappoint. Friendly staff and great facilities. Mindy did a fabulous job on my color and cut. I'm estatic to have found such a great stylist here in Katy. I got home and two of my "transplant" (new to Katy) friends saw it and immediately asked for her info. Mindy is a ten star hairstylist.

BE VERY AWARE IF YOU HAVE SHELLFISH ALLERGIES. I ordered plain old Wonton soup - had two sips of broth before my husband discovered shrimp in his - and sure enough there was Shrimp in mine. Since I'm allergic to Shellfish, I obviously found this very disturbing and am not looking forward to being covered with hives. I wouldn't touch this place with a ten foot pole ever again.
