Hey, web developers! This one’s for you :)

The Google Accessibility Engineering team is super excited to announce the Accessibility Developer Tools Extension for Chrome! It’s available right now in the Chrome Web Store.

Making your web apps accessible means making sure users with disabilities can enjoy the same experience as everyone else. Unfortunately, simple errors — like unlabeled form fields or buttons that can’t receive keyboard focus — can cause BIG problems for these users.

Accessibility Developer Tools is an open source extension that can help you find and eliminate simple accessibility errors in your apps. It adds an Accessibility audit and an Accessibility sidebar pane to the regular Chrome Developer Tools.

Please Note: Because the Accessibility Developer Tools uses an experimental API, you must enable Experimental Extension APIs from chrome://flags and restart Chrome before the extension is installed. If this is not done, you will see an error saying “There was a problem adding the item to Chrome. Please refresh the page and try again.”. You must also be using Chrome 21 or higher.

Let us know what you think in the comments! You can also give us feedback on the Chrome Web Store or on the project issues page on the project site ( http://accessibility-developer-tools.googlecode.com ).

+Dominic Mazzoni , Charles Chen, and I have been hard at work putting together  code samples and real world examples for this talk (though the rhyming is not intentional I promise :)

If you're at #io12  I hope you can make it! Otherwise I'll make sure to post a link to the video as soon as it gets posted.

I'm working at the Accessibility Sandbox until 3:30 today. If you're at Google I/O today, come on over! I'll show you how to use a Chromebox without a display and how to test your website for accessibility errors. We also have candy ;)

Yes, an Android-shaped keg (kegdroid?) exists. And it's awesome.

Live at Google I/O, it's the Android Accessibility Talk! I'm very proud of my team and all the hard work they've done for Jellybean.

This is happening right now in Room 9! Come on over and learn how to make your Android apps accessible :)

GDD Buenos Aires is off to a great start! There are so many excited developers here.

Also, the Google+ pin game is a hit! Each attendee was given 5 Google+ pins from a certain area (Stream, Chat, Photos, Hangouts, Circles). If an attendee trades their extra 4 pins with others and collects 5 different Google+ pins, they win a super cute Android robot. Of course there's a rare pin that everyone is trying to get :) :) I wish I had one to give away at my talk...
