The NC State Women’s Center is now soliciting donations for the 2015 Sisterhood Dinner Silent Auction.  All proceeds of the Silent Auction will benefit Women’s Center programs, services, and leadership development opportunities.  For example:
$50 provides a student with emergency transportation to a rape crisis center through our Survivor Fund

$100 purchases books featuring strong female characters for one of our Read to L.E.A.D. sites

$250 brings in a speaker for our Chancellor’s First Year Student Leadership Program
All donations welcome!  Depending on the donation, we can bundle it with others to make a themed basket!  Receipts can be provided for tax purposes.
Items can be dropped off in the Women’s Center (Harrelson 324, NCSU Campus, Raleigh) Monday-Friday 9-5 pm and will be accepted until Feb 9, 2015.  Feel free to call 919-515-2012 or email with questions of if you need assistance with a pick-up.   Thank you for your support! - Rachel Monteverdi, Chair-elect 2014

Thanks to all who came to the DON’T GET SCAMMED presentation this week.  We discussed what to do when someone approaches you in person, online and by phone.  We also specifically covered what do you do when the phone rings and the person on the other side says-
1. They are the IRS and you are in trouble;
2.  They are a utility company providing a final reminder and are about to cut off your utilities;
3.  They are a relative in trouble;
4.  You've won a huge prize and just need to provide verification; or
5.  Something else that sounds very real?!
Huge thanks to our partners with the Franklin County Sheriff's Department, the Franklin County Senior Center and NC Cooperative Extension, Family & Consumer Sciences.  Additional help for consumers can be found here:
