Yard and Coop, Manchester
Yard and Coop was a bit of a last minute decision, but we needed brain food. I had to go anyway, because their strawberry milkshake was on my 'to do' list for the post Charlie and I are doing on Manchester's best milkshakes. It was practically essential... ...

Matcha Green Tea Review
A couple of weeks ago, The Tea Makers of London asked me to review their Matcha green tea. I don't do many product reviews anymore, but I'd had such good results with it in the past, that I thought it was worth exploring once again. It's one of those things...

Ply, Manchester
One of the things I adore about blogging is that I get the chance to share my many escapades with some of the people I hold dearest. On Sunday, poor Paddy was hutch-bound doing some work, so our pal Lee kindly stepped in like the total pizza devouring warri...

Raspberry and White Chocolate Bundt Cake
Every Thursday we take it in turns to bake at work. It's our new thing. Last week, Phil made a corking double layered carrot cake, and this week the baton was passed to me. This shiny little number attracted folk from all over the office like a flock of mag...

Common, Manchester
I last visited Common when it had just reopened after a fairly significant facelift. Gone are the graffiti covered walls treasured by every hipster and his (cool) dog, in favour of a more grown up Scandinavian style dining area with cool lampshades. The bar...

Sticky Toffee Bundt Cake
This is my perfect bundt - a cake that's actually a pudding. Serve it cold for a beautifully moist cake with that unmistakeable sticky toffee taste, or have it warm with ice cream/custard for a syrupy sponge to die for. Seriously, this stuff's like crack. D...

Summer Fruit Salad Bundt Cake
Last weekend I went to my friend Jayne's surprise baby shower. Her mum made the most magnificent fruit salad I have ever seen! It was in this colossal punchbowl and was probably enough to feed 50 rather than 15. I'm sure it was self filling when someone rem...

Tomfoolery at 34
I love going to Alderley Edge; a place full of sunshine, pretty boutiques and sausage dogs. I'm convinced it never rains here, and that flowers are in bloom all year round. Don't burst my bubble.  Tomfoolery at 34 is on the main street in the heart of the v...

Taste Testing - Crank's Organic Wholemeal Bread
I get asked to test out all sorts of foods and products, but I can only say yes if I can imagine actually eating or using them. When  Crank's  asked if I'd like to sample their organic wholemeal loaves, I could see how this would go down.  I work on a hungr...

Margarita Bundt Cake
Two things I love: Baking for other people A baking challenge This here cake hit both criteria. My lovely friend Lee's dad is a fan of the bundt. Who's dad isn't to be fair? I'd taken him a slab of my  Chocolate Honeycomb Bundt Cake the other week, which ha...

Iberica, Manchester
Iberica is one of my favourite new places in Manchester. Back in March we visited the Marylebone restaurant whilst we were in London for my birthday, and were quick to sample the new Spinningfields site on our return. When the folks at  SquareMeal  asked if...

Malteaser Bundt Cake
I fancied baking again this morning, but had no idea what to make. I put it out to Facebook. Someone mentioned Maltesers, and it was a done deal. It's been on my mind ever since I saw the Malteaser spread in Tesco. Had to be done. This uses my basic moist c...

So it looks a a bit like a Harvester from outside. So what? The normal food menu is exactly what you would expect from a family pub, but those desserts descended directly from heaven. If you're ever in need of an emergency pudding, nip in for a cakeaway. I believe the Malteaser cheesecake is a bit of a winner too...
