Ask yourself today what is 'stopping me from achieving my set goals'? Being aware of what stops you from achieving those set goals is one step in the right direction. Today’s workers are bedeviled by distractions that pulls them away from the key activities of their job. It's important that you learn to trim your activities down to the few things that are truly important, so you can get your job done. Are you a victim of ‘self- sabotage’, ‘procrastination’, ‘perfectionism’, ‘scourge of electronics’ or 'unnecessary socializing'? To evolve, you need to be willing to apply self-discipline, stop sabotaging your own efforts, organize your workplace and work-life.

While emails can be useful in the quick transfer of data and information among teams, their overuse in offices as a collaborative and knowledge management tool has led to company knowledge being distributed throughout different people’s outlook folders. How often have you heard a colleague say “I didn’t see the email”? Where extensive email communication occurs between more than two people, their use could minimize personal accountability so avoid email overload and misuse by embracing corporate social intranet platforms with features such as built-in chat functions, company updates, notifications and posting capabilities and improve your internal communication!

Did you know that irrespective of the kind of business you are in, having the right people determines success or failure? Organisations that have the right people in the wrong seats (or vice versa) tend to experience high attrition, poor performance, missed opportunities, unhappy customers and increased costs. Remember, people are not cut out for every job so just because a person seems like the right fit for your company it doesn't mean they are the right candidate for the vacant position you are trying to fill, so make sure you take your time during the hiring/recruiting process so you’ll have less headaches and expenses later on.

Do you know what you want to have achieved by the end of today, the week or the year? Have you put your goals in writing and placed them in visible places to remind yourself every day of what it is you intend to do? When it comes to achieving your goals, are you willing to put in the hard work and time required? Did you know that when you are adequately prepared for tasks, your actions will seem natural as you execute them with ease? Remember, there is always toil and practice behind a person's poise so never try to “wing it” because whether you see it or not, even the most spontaneous people plan ahead!
