Craving a good #burger   tonight? This month's feature is an ode to the Banh Mi, a Vietnamese sandwich with fresh herbs that taste great in spring. We topped our burger patty with shaved ham, green papaya salad, sliced jalapeño, Thai basil, mint, cilantro and curry mayo and serve it on a toasted brioche bun. Happy grunting.

May is #NationalBurgerMonth, a full 31 days of celebrating America’s favorite guilty pleasure – the burger.

We chatted with our very own burger aficionado, Rich Melman, about all things burgers:

I know this sounds crazy but maybe the best restaurant week offering...from a value standpoint. I got a reservation for 8 the Sunday of restaurant week and for $22 you get: 1) all you can eat salad bar which also had the breakfast brunch bar including eggs, sausages, bacon, French toast, etc. (Fun fact: RJ Grunts had one of the first ever salad bars!) AND 2) French onion soup or 8 chicken wings AND 3) a burger you could get fries or chips - I went fries to save stomach space AND 4) cookie bowl or milk shake - we got the shakes to go The service is amazing - everyone was super friendly - and the food was what you'd expect.

DO NOT EAT HERE. The lettuce they served in the salad bar and on the sandwiches had gone bad. Avoid this and other Lettuce Entertain You locations.

What's not to love about an all you can eat salad bar? The first LEYE restaurant still delivers delicious and consistent food. Situated in a perfect location in Lincoln Park, RJ Grunts is always on our rotation. Make sure you try the cheesecake cream cheese desert at the salad bar! YUM!

Classic little spot. The salad bar, is the way to go. The place has good food and a great vibe. I just wish they had outdoor seating because it is in such a good location. Go there on a cold day and get the 'temperature' soup. You pay however many degrees it is outside (They won't pay you for negative temps though)

Food was great casual faire! The shakes are to die for, our server was friendly and professional. The atmosphere was fun, great music, but you could still have a conversation. I would definitely go back again!

First time here. Stopped by to get a bite to eat after the air and water show. Must say the place was clean and welcoming, along with a nice ambience . Also, the menu was huge with alot of selections. Hamburgers were really really good and so where their milkshakes. WILL return in the near future

Restaurant has been here since I was a child and has not changed. Stop in after a visit to Lincoln Park Zoo and enjoy their burgers, or salad bar and 70's music. Recommend their Veggie Burger. Restaurant is a Chicago Tradition and very upbeat!!!! One of the President's favorite restaurants.

This place is great! And the manager there, I think her name is Hannah, is one of the nicest people on earth. She really made our experience!
