Did you know IFTTT (If This, Then That) service can actually now perform "if"?

I never had use of the service as it was never really "if", it was just, "when". It was extremely limited, you could only trigger something to happen. And to make multiple things happen, you had to setup multiple routines (with no real copy/paste).

Take this example, a common desire and popular "applet" is to raise the ring volume of a phone that's lost so someone can call it to find the errant device. See the issue here? Sure, raising the volume helps, but why do we need to manually call it in addition?

The work-around, setup two applets, one to raise the volume and a second one to call the phone. *facepalm

Or how about this? Turn my porch light on when I return home. Easy enough, when entering a location, turn the light on. But why do we need to spend money on having it on if it's daytime?

Turns out there's a "secret" solution that allows filtering and multiple things to be triggered: https://platform.ifttt.com/maker

The "maker" part of their "platform" allows a MUCH easier streamlined process of creation (one screen instead of several screens with between screens offering nothing but an extra click).

It also offers multiple "then that's". Remember our lost phone example earlier? https://ifttt.com/applets/krk3V9U5-email-to-find-android-phone-making-it-ring-at-100-volume
That both raises the ringer volume AND calls the phone to make it ring.

Don't want your lights coming on during the day? The filter field accepts (a form of) Javascript to prevent the resulting action, or apply if/then/else logic so we can have lights only turned on between certain hours.

It takes something that wasn't particularly useful, and turns it into a remarkably useful tool.

An amusing feature of this storm, the pressure is SO low, opening the lid on a tube of cream (less than half used) resulted in it pushing up and out like the container was being squeezed. A pump bottle of shampoo was seeping out as well. The aforementioned tube instead of being squished like a tube of toothpaste usually appears, was expanded from all the pressure inside compared to the low outside.

For #PokemonGo players, for impending Generation 3 Pokemon, some to Pinap/pay extra attention to (I'd not value the starters personally, but otherwise this info jives with other I've seen): https://i.redd.it/3f507h2qko201.jpg

#PokemonGo buffs up today/tomorrow, so pop a Lucky Egg and do a half hour of evolving Pidgeys and the like for 4x the XP.

Stardust boosts, buddy distance shortened, egg boosts too.

Despite the horrible #PokemonGo anniversary box (1100 worth of items for 1200), as suspected, legendaries coming after Go Fest on the 22nd in T5 raids per leaked unofficial Argentina Go page (en Español, so here's translation):

Trainers,

New legendary Pokémon are almost here! Starting on July 22nd, at 1 PM PDT, you will be able to encounter new strong Pokémon such as Mewtwo and other legendaries from the Kanto and Johto regions! These new Pokémon will be first released at Pokémon GO Fest, and will be released to the public once Pokémon GO Fest is completed. We have also added new features to enhance your experience.

Legendary Pokémon: These extremely rare Pokémon will first arrive at the Pokémon GO Fest, in the form of Level 5 raids. In order to successfully defeat the legendary Pokémon, you and your friends will have to join together to earn the chance of catching the extremely rare legendary Pokémon! But be aware, these Pokémon will be extremely hard to catch, so make sure to save up some extra berries for it!

Additional Items: There will be additional items added to the game that include but are not limited to: Master Balls, Golden Pinap Berries, and Wepear Berries! Most of these items will come as extremely rare drops from defeating the powerful Raid Boss! The new Master Ball will be an extremely rare drop after defeating a Raid Boss. By using the Master Ball, you have a guaranteed chance of catching a Pokémon! Use it wisely, as you may not get one for a long time after!—Wepear Berries can be found by spinning the Photo Disc at Pokéstops. These berries allow you to double the amount of Stardust generated from catching a Pokémon. Golden Pinap Berries are an even rarer version of the Pinap Berry. By using the Golden Pinap Berry, you can increase the amount of candy from catching a Pokémon even more! These Golden Pinap Berries can be found as a drop from defeating a raid boss.

Limited Time Pokémon: For a limited time only, with the sunny days coming around, we thought there would be no better time to party with the Squirtle Squad! Squirtles around the world will be rocking the Squirtle Squad look with some new and cool sunglasses! The Pokémon will keep their sunglasses forever, so keep an eye out for the limited-time Pokémon!

New Clothing: With the upcoming release of Legendaries around the corner, there will be some new clothing to choose from! Customize your look with a whole new selection of legendary-themed clothing!

Pokémon IVs: Once you have appraised your Pokémon once, you will soon be able to keep records of your Pokémon's appraisal! Depending on your Pokémon's appraisal, your Pokémon will have an outline which is either red, with a not so good appraisal, or green, with an amazing appraisal! These outlines will be kept on your Pokémon forever, so you won't have to appraise more than once!

We will be sure to bring you more info in the next few weeks.

Be sure to use the hashtag #PokemonGO on Twitter to share your experiences as you explore your local neighborhoods with family and friends. We can’t wait to see the legendary Pokémon you catch!
