#Rabbitfish have venomous fin spines which can cause a very painful wound - good reasons why we all should look and not touch #Australia 's #GreatBarrierReef

Don’t just visit the Great Barrier Reef for a few hours – sleep on it!

Reef Encounter, Australia’s only floating luxury boutique hotel, is situated on the spectacular Great Barrier Reef off the coast of Cairns and offers guests a unique opportunity to enjoy the ultimate reef experience.

Reef Encounter, a 35 metre luxury catamaran, offers all the luxury facilities of a reef resort while floating on the pristine waters of the Great Barrier Reef – making it one of the most unique holiday escapes in Australia.

Reef Encounter has a large easy access water platform that allows hassle free scuba diving and snorkeling, directly off the side of the boat in perhaps one of the most spectacular aquatic environments in the world. The vessel also features comfortable staterooms and deluxe Top Deck Club rooms, all with double or twin beds and private bathrooms.

Staying overnight on the reef is truly an experience that just has to be made. The spectacular sunrises and sunsets that rise and fall over the calm, azure waters simply have to be seen to be believed. The abundance of brightly shining stars just adds to the perfect natural setting.

Transfers to Reef Encounter are available daily via a minute fast catamaran boat ride from Cairns or a stunning helicopter trip over the Great Barrier Reef – a service that no other vessel can provide!

Hello! I just wanted to say is that the crew onboard my trip were absolutely amazing. I have never met a group so dedicated to their job and to the people onboard the boat. Their passion for the ocean made me excited about the ocean as well. I always felt safe with Nigel at the helm; I don't think there's anyone I'd trust more to navigate us away from a storm, and he did it all with an awesome attitude. I couldn't have asked for a more supportive person than Lucy to take me on my first scuba dive ever. And Scotty never left my side during my first night dive, which put my worries at ease. The chefs went above and beyond to make sure that as a vegetarian I was well taken care of, and every member of the crew was so kind I felt I had made a new set of friends after just 2 nights on board. Best, Joanna
