Google+ Premium Features Made Available to All Google Apps Users
Google on Monday has started rolling-out its premium Google+ features to all its enterprise users (Google Apps), with noticeable changes to its Google+ and Hangouts apps.

"Today we're rolling out these premium features to everybody. It won't change the way you've previously interacted with Google+ or Hangouts, but it will let you access several great business-specific features you may have missed out on before now," wrote Michael Cai, Product Manager, on Google's Official Enterprise Blog.

Earlier the Google+ premium features were available as a preview that could be enabled by IT administrators. Now starting Monday, new Google Apps customers will see these updates as they register, while the exiting users will see the updates in July.

The new premium features will provide organisations "more tailored Google+ experience with enhanced control options." Users can make Google+ posts restricted to their domain only such as a post by a company will be visible to its employees with premium features. Additionally, the restricted post cannot be further shared by the employee to anyone outside. The feature also adds the ability to hide employee profiles in external searches.

Google Hangout users with premium features can now initiate video chats with up to 15 persons at the same time and in HD video quality.

On Monday, the search giant has also announced its first round of Glass at Work Certified Partners who would deliver enterprise solutions for Glass. The firm continues to look out for more developers and enterprises for its eyewear.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4, Galaxy Tab S 10.5 With AMOLED Displays Launched:

New tablet computers from Samsung will feature screens that are richer in color than standard LCDs.
These screens, known as AMOLED for active-matrix organic light-emitting diodes, are already found in smartphones made by Samsung and a few other manufacturers. But until now, tablets haven't used them because larger AMOLED screens are more difficult to produce.

Samsung Electronics Co. is trying to change that with its upcoming line of Android tablets, called the Galaxy Tab S. On Thursday, Samsung announced two such models, with screens of 8.4 inches (Galaxy Tab S 8.4) and 10.5 inches (Galaxy Tab S 10.5), as measured diagonally.

The tablets will start selling in the U.S. in July at $400 (roughly Rs. 23,772) for the smaller model and $500 (roughly Rs. 29,720) for the larger one - the same as comparable iPads. Models with 4G LTE cellular (Galaxy Tab S 8.4 LTE, Galaxy Tab S 10.5 LTE) access are expected later in the year.

Samsung is the world's second-largest maker of tablets, behind Apple and its trend-setting iPads. In recent years, Samsung has been gaining market share - at Apple's expense - by offering a wide range of sizes and quality.

Earlier this year, it unveiled a "Pro" brand aimed at professionals. The "Tab" brand has been used on Samsung's budget tablets and don't come with a stylus, as Samsung's "Note" tablets do. With the new screens, Samsung is elevating the Tab line to become its flagship tablet.

Besides producing richer colors, AMOLED allows tablets to be thinner and use less power because screens typically don't require backlighting. But IHS analyst Sweta Dash said the performance gap between AMOLED screens and regular LCDs has narrowed, while AMOLED screens can cost 10 to 30 percent more to make.

Google Project Loon Internet Beaming Service Hits Speeds of 22MBps
Ever since the first helium-filled balloon belonging to Google's Project Loon flew over New Zealand's Lake Tekapo beaming Internet signals in June last year, Google has been stealthily working on bridging the gap between the connected world and the connectivity-starved parts of the world.
Taking the project ahead, Google on Monday carried out a similar project where they launched a helium-filled balloon in the rural outskirts of Campo Major in Brazil. A local school, Linoca Gayoso, was connected to the Internet through it, for the first time in its existence.

Google's balloons fly free and out of eyesight, scavenging power from card table-sized solar panels that dangle below and gather enough charge in four hours to power them for a day as the balloons sail around the globe on the prevailing winds. Far below, ground stations with Internet capabilities are placed about 100 kilometers (60 miles) apart, and bounce signals up to the balloons. Each balloon would provide Internet service for an area twice the size of New York City, about 1,250 square kilometers (780 square miles), and terrain is not a challenge. The signals travel in the unlicensed spectrum, which means Google doesn't have to go through the onerous regulatory processes required for Internet providers using wireless communications networks or satellites.
