Here we are. All of us, everyone, are right near the middle of 2015.

If you blinked, you may have missed that three months of the New Year is already behind us. Time has passed us by quickly, and we wondered if 2015 cloud predictions were holding up. Take this forecast made by some tech experts late last year: 2015 will be the year of the container.

Right now, what is clear is that an increasing number of businesses see the value of containers for application packaging and transport. In an upcoming Google Hangout video chat, a panel of experts will define the value of containers and how businesses are using them to accelerate deployment and movement of apps in various cloud environments.

Watch here live at 12 pm EST on April 30, and don’t forget to follow along on Twitter using the hash tag #IBMPureChat. For now, meet our panelists:

Panelists:

Ruslan Synytsky, Founder and CEO, Jelastic, Business Partner
Kyle Brown, Distinguished Engineer, IBM Software Services for WebSphere
Bill Stoddard, IBM PureApplication Product Line Manager
Nik McCrory, IBM New Technology Architect
This Hangout On Air is hosted by IBM Expert Integrated Systems. The live video broadcast will begin soon.

It wouldn’t be an IBM event if it wasn’t packed with plenty of great topics that developers are talking about. One such topic is “An Overview and Strategy to Build, Deploy and Continuously Improve Mobile Apps.” In this #IBMPureChat video, Steve Mirman, a member of the IBM Cloud WebSphere & Mobility SWAT Team, previews his session with the same name at DeveloperConnect in New York.

What he discusses here:

Speed is the name of the game in this hybrid cloud world. Businesses are looking to rapidly and cost effectively deliver a portfolio of enterprise mobile applications. Attendees at Steve’s presentation will learn how to meet and exceed expectations and business requirements with “a standards-based, mobile first application platform and an agile, integrated mobile DevOps strategy that helps you develop, connect, manage and secure mobile apps with unmatched speed and agility,” he says.

In this video, you’ll get a sneak peek at what’s going on at that the upcoming DeveloperConnect in Toronto on April 14. This day-long event brings together the best IT professionals as they experience lightning talks, hands-on labs, live demos and one on one with experts. They’ll be talking about system integration, cloud challenges, new product development, and more. Of course, you couldn’t have that event without talking PureApplication, IBM’s smart path to hybrid cloud. You can find info and links in the description below for presentations on PureApplication at DeveloperConnect.  To register, click here: http://ibm.co/1NNHfpv.

Also at the event are talks on other important topics buzzing in the tech world, including a session on “Practical DevOps in a Hybrid World.” In this #IBMPureChat video chat, Rodrigo De La Parra, a Cloud Specialist at IBM Canada, explains his role leading that topic. Here’s a look:
The present and the future may very well be all in the cloud. But it back-end systems continue to run on physical infrastructure. That means businesses are taking to hybrid solutions with both on-prem and off-prem cloud, and of cloud adoption models including both Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS).

In the world of DevOps adoption, this is a challenge. The end result is often application delivery pipelines that span across complex hybrid cloud and non-cloud environments.

De La Parra’s session at DeveloperWorks will introduce event attendees to IBM UrbanCode Deploy with Patterns (UCDP) for Application Delivery Automation across such hybrid environments. Attendees will learn how UCDP can provision multiple cloud environments when De La Parra will show use solution architectures from existing customers to explore deployment automation to hybrid cloud.
