Hello Everyone - NEW RELEASE - by Rashmii Amoah Bell
My Walk to Equality: Essays, Stories and Poetry by Papua New Guinean Women
The anthology celebrates the contribution of #women to #PapuaNewGuinean society. It also sets out some of the problems and issues confronting those women in their daily lives. These issues are set out in an eclectic mix of #poetry, #essays and #shortstories. The #anthology also challenges the myths and stereotypes often associated with the drive to reduce inequalities in Papua New Guinea. The anthology is also an opportunity for Papua New Guineans to recognise and appreciate the women of their nation. Women are active in many fields in Papua New Guinea, occasionally in leadership roles. Papua New Guinean women are doctors and nurses, business leaders, environmental activists, and politicians. Other women in more traditional roles form the backbone of Papua New Guinean society. All of them need to be celebrated. These women are diligently working to advance their country and remedy the wrongs they encounter, even though the task often seems overwhelming. The anthology draws attention to and suggests approaches to the serious challenges Papua New Guinea must address to become the nation it wants to be and which its people need.

Hello Everyone - NEW RELEASE - by Philip Fitzpatrick -
Inspector Metau: The Case of the Good Politician (Volume 3)
On the verge of retirement Inspector Hari Metau has been promoted and put in charge of Port Moresby’s dysfunctional and scandal plagued reserve police force in the hope that he can rescue it before the Police Commissioner disbands it. He reluctantly takes the job on hoping that his promotion will ensure his pension when he retires will be boosted by his new rank.... While he is wondering what to do with his new charges he witnesses a deliberate hit and run incident in front of his favourite coffee shop on the foreshore at Ela Beach. The victims are two newly elected members of the Papua New Guinean parliament. While trying to find the culprits, tragedy strikes when Hari’s protégée and daughter Bella’s fiancé, Sergeant Bokasi is shot and left fighting for his life. Determined to get to the bottom of the attack on the novice parliamentarians and his fellow policeman Hari enters the murky world of Papua New Guinean politics.

Can’t Sleep: Poems, First Impressions, Satire & Essays on Cultural Aspects of Enga Province, Papua New Guinea, Compiled by Daniel Kumbon, Enga Writer’s Association.
The people of Papua New Guinea have a long traditional history of oral literature. Like many societies that have always lived close to the earth there are many natural story tellers and poets among them. This is especially so in Enga Province in the Central Highlands where the largest cultural group in Papua New Guinea lives.
It is therefore unfortunate that these natural talents have not been afforded any real chance to flourish in the modern nation state of Papua New Guinea where publishing and other opportunities are severely limited.
This has not stopped the writers and poets from practising their craft but at best they can only hope for publication in small and often obscure journals and newspapers. Until recently very few books have been published in the nation.
Daniel Kumbon, himself a published author and journalist, has compiled this current collection from a variety of those sources, past and present, to highlight the sort of material that has come out of his home province.
The collection is mainly aimed at Enga readers and occurs in parallel with the recent revival of the Enga Writer’s Association. However, the collection should also be of interest to the general reader who wants to learn about Enga and its people and their aspirations.

Two Sides to Every Story: A Short Guide to Cross Cultural Awareness in Papua New Guinea

Philip Fitzpatrick
Over 80% of Papua New Guineans live outside the main cities and towns and lead lives as subsistence gardeners and hunters. When expatriates come to work in the country they usually come from industrialized western societies with a completely different cultural background. This can cause innumerable problems for both the workers and their employees. When they work in rural areas they do so alongside people who may not understand western ways. This book is a short guide which suggests ways to ameliorate the consequences of two different cultural traditions coming together.
