An enlightening (ahaha) new piece of research to review and discuss!

This recently-published PLoS paper has found a correlation between the amount of morning sunlight a person gets, and their BMI.

What do YOU think? Head over to publons.com/p/4550/ to tell us your thoughts.

We love this graphic which has been doing the rounds recently - it’s a brilliant primer and reminder of how to spot bad science whenever and wherever it is (sadly too often) being perpetrated. Of...

New publon! Stress (including poverty and unstable family environments ) has been found to alter children's genomes, shortening the telomeres which protect their chromosomes.

What do you think? You can review or discuss this research and its significance at publons.com/p/4019/.

Speeding Up Science By Optimising Peer Review
Introduction
The peer review system has been, and still is, an invaluable resource in science and academia, making possible some of the huge advances seen in the couple of centuries since it first began to be used.

However, cracks are starting to be visible in this system - one which hasn't changed since its inception.

We at Publons want to help fix some of the breakage in the system. Our mission is to make peer review and peer reviewers first class citizens in science. The Publons system offers:
  • Open, quantifiable peer review
  • Citable reviews with DOIs
  • Discussion and endorsement of reviews
  • Public reviewer profiles
