The Wedge takes advantage of the south facing site to create a form that maximizes the benefits of natural daylight and passive heating.

The Wedge ADU in SE Portland was a simple design, custom tailored for our clients property, solar orientation, aesthetic taste, and of course budget.

What if the value of our work is less about specific design of space than about the reason for the space to begin with? We’re not discounting the value (or our love) of good design. We’re simply thinking about the broader impact we can lend to a community.

Are latest article walks through our design process. To us, great architecture has more to do with the process of creation than the final result. It is about how conversations with clients, coordination with other experts, and collaboration with a contractor all come together into a unified design.

Our latest article addresses our observations regarding multi-family housing design in Portland, Oregon. We welcome the opportunity to design much needed housing which addresses the triple bottom line - environment, economics, and people.

Propel's design approach for our latest NW Custom Home: With a beautiful, hilltop site, our design approach was to take advantage of the natural surroundings and views over the landscape, while keeping the architecture from dominating the site. We semi-submerged the main floor of the house while carving outdoor living areas into the hillside. This protected courtyard extends out from the interior living spaces to provide year-round access to the outdoors.
