How does Pro Active Physical Therapy help?

The first goal is to reduce pain and swelling if there is any. Then the next step is to increase flexibility, strength, coordination and balance, this may involve stretching, lifting weights, walking, manual therapy, and electrical stimulation among others. The goal of physical therapy for seniors is to make daily tasks and activities easier. And to make seniors as independent as possible. Types of Pro Active Physical therapy in elderly:

Soft tissue Mobilization

All Medicare patient can consult Physical therapist to improve their activities of daily living On January 1, 2014 the law changed to allow the following provisions:
Allows patients to directly access physical therapist treatment for 45 calendar days or 12 visits after which time the patient must be seen by a physician who must approve the plan of care developed by the physical therapist. Note: this time limit impacts only patients who receive direct treatment from a physical therapist. Patients who see a physical therapist for wellness services or who already have obtained a medical diagnosis from a licensed diagnostician before or during care are not subject to the 45-day/12 visit time limit.

WOMEN’S HEALTH PHYSICAL THERAPY
Women’s health physical therapy

SV proactive physical therapy has specialized and trained staff who occupies training in the treatment and education of women’s health issues. All the patients receive one on one treatment in a comfortable private setting with female therapists. In addition, they also undergo an advanced plan of care if needed. We expertly perform pre-partum and post-partum, incontinence and pelvic floor dysfunction.

Pre-partum and post-partum
Our physical therapists work on the goal of ensuring a healthy, active, and comfortable pregnancy. But even before and after so much of care issues can occur. So it advisable to visit a therapist.

Following complaints from the patients in Pre-partum are common:

Painful intercourse

Low back pain

Urine leakage due to strained pelvic muscles

Separation of the rectus abdominus muscle (diastasis recti)

Neck pain or headaches due to posture changes

Colorectal dysfunction

Urinary urgency and frequency

Tightness and pain in the legs due to the flattening of the feet

Following complaints from the patients in Post-partum are common:

Dyspareunia (pain with intercourse or orgasm)

Upper extremity pain and numbness from child care

Low back and lower extremity pain

We work in accordance to achieve maximum pelvic floor and musculoskeletal function for comfortable delivery and reduce dysfunction formed in postpartum as well as prevent perineal tearing. Our therapists teach perineal massage. In the guidance of a therapist enhance body awareness, flexibility, and endurance can be achieved. Women undergone cesarean section may experience persistent pain or dysfunction. A therapist knows how to normalize the tight tissue and eliminate trigger points with therapy techniques.

Urinary Incontinence
Urinary incontinence is uncontrolled urination or undesired leakage of urine. There are different types of urinary incontinence, including:

Stress incontinence. This occurs when there is increased intra-abdominal pressure and the pelvic-floor muscles do not have the control to maintain continence. Those with stress incontinence leak urine during a physical activity, such as playing a sport, or simply laughing or sneezing.

Urge incontinence. People with urge incontinence can experience a sudden, strong need to pass urine, and leak before reaching the bathroom.

Mixed incontinence. Some people experience both stress and urge incontinence.

Functional incontinence. Even without an intense urge to urinate, people with functional incontinence may leak urine on the way to the bathroom.

Urinary frequency. Some people feel the need to empty the bladder frequently throughout the day and more than once during the night.

Pelvic floor dysfunction
Pelvic floor dysfunction is abnormal functioning of the pelvic floor. The following conditions may occur as a result of pelvic floor dysfunction:

Pelvic organ prolapse

Sensory and emptying abnormalities of the lower urinary tract

Sexual dysfunction

Chronic pain syndromes
