I am Prince Blake from the United States. After college I moved to Japan where I opened a language school near the Inland Sea called Alamo. I'm a bassist for Planet Erthe, a blogger and a former reliability engineer at Awtec, a GPS navigation company.
As a reliabilty engineer I set about trying to repair a policy error I'd witnessed in Japan - the Bojinka response error - which would lead to disaster if uncorrected. Bojinka is likely pronounced 'BOYNKa' relating to the original plot which targeted 10-12 BOEING airliners. I was aware that concern over a re-grouped project BoY2Ka (read 2 as the letter 'N' rotating) was completely lost in the media frenzy surrounding the Y2K scare. I reported this error advising that the 'BoY2Ka' or 'Bojinka' plotters were the real threat. Televised reports of airport screening failures out of Boston surfaced in the LA news market amid other indicators. I asserted the plotters were likely in our flight schools where they should be stopped before they plowed planes into our buildings. I felt like a prince for recognizing and reporting the problem. I purchased the domain princeofearth.org. The counselor asked, "Why .org?" I explained that stopping the plot needed organization and that's what had brought me to the center. I felt like popping a champagne bottle and sharing this victory with the world. But instead of the plot being foiled, it thickened. After I began pleading to stop the plot, Awtec's lawyers came to the center at the Boeing Building to put pressure on the counselor for my signature. I reminded them they already had my signature allowing them to share information with law enforcement and should have already done so in regards to the information I'd given them about the Bojinka plot. I agreed to sign only after the counselor also agreed to give law enforcement the information about our Bojinka response error, and my plea to look in our flight schools for the plotters. This was my second request to forward the information to officials. The counselor agreed and confirmed with me, "You want the plot stopped," "YES!" I replied. The final time came at our last session. I told her I felt they were leaving it up to us to stop the plot and that we should continue to press the matter using the centers protocol for reporting matters to law enforcement. I said if they weren't responding we should not give up but go up the chain, telling anyone who would listen. Philip Zelikow recently stated that the BoY2Ka plotters success on 9/11 reflected some wild phenomena - guys coming from an area that didn't have running water executing a plot on such a massive scale. The wonderment Zelikow describes is shared by many on the left and preceded the plot. It is an impediment to overcome because it glamourizes pure evil. The plotters all had modern conveniences growing up, none lived a life of abject poverty so prevalent in many corners of the globe. Poverty of thought caused 9/11 not lack of financial resources. A New York law school offered a lecture series called 'Lawyering at the Edge' where for a hefty price tag members could attend the lecture of the key speaker, WTC terrorist's attorney Lynne Stewart. Lawyers may find it thrilling to lawyer from the edge but their client's suffering victims would beg to differ. My efforts to correct our course finally paid off in August 2006 after I once again pleaded repeatedly to stop the Bojinka plotters. Not only did we stop the trans-Atlantic BoY2Ka plot just in the nick of time, but we finally undertook serious measures to counter future plots.
