Samsung Galaxy S6 officially announced.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 could be considered one of the biggest steps Samsung has taken in the design department for their S series. It has an aluminium chassis and the front and rear are covered in Corning Gorilla Glass 4. It keeps the signature home button, as seen on the S series since the original Galaxy S, along with a fingerprint sensor integrated inside it, and at the bottom it has a micro-USB connector with the speaker and microphone to one side. The new device comes in a variation of colours; green, black, blue, white and gold and the phone is just 6.8mm thick and weighs in at just 138g.

The Galaxy S6 is fitted with a 5.1” Super AMOLED display, that has a 2560x1440p resolution (Quad-HD) and a pixel density of 577 ppi. The device is powered by Samsung’s own 64-bit Octa-Core Exynos processor clocked at 2.1GHz, which is paired with 3GB of DDR4 RAM. Regarding the fingerprint scanner, it is now a touch-based one, similar to the one seen on the iPhone. The phone comes with three storage variants, 32GB, 64GB and 128GB of storage, depending on your preference. Various other features are included such as a heart-rate monitor, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, LTE connectivity (Up to 300mbps) and a 2550mAh battery to keep the device going.

The New Galaxy is equipped with a 16MP camera on the rear with a dual-tone LED flash, while the front-facing camera is a 5MP camera.

Finally, the Samsung Galaxy S6 comes with Android 5.0.2 Lollipop 🍭 straight out of the box, with the new generation of Samsung's Touchwiz overlay on top.

All of us love to eat; in fact there is a foodie in all of us. While some like to experiment with new food items others stick to their favorites and are proud of their food loyalty. The fact is most of our diet comprise of food that are good and bad for our teeth.

About that big bad black bar

As expected, many people are criticising the M9's black bar, in addition to the entire design, but lets focus on the black bar for now. I did the exact same thing with the M8 last year (http://bit.ly/1Eq1AB0). It is an eye sore, and it still kinda is. But then my sister got the HTC One E8, which gave me my first taste of BoomSound, and I was hooked (http://bit.ly/1wE5P4l). That sound was unlike any other smartphone's. It had already been explained last year why the black bar was necessary, to house those BoomSound speakers. And the same is true of the M9.

The black band with the HTC logo is still here as well, and there really wasn't much of a chance of it going anywhere, as it hides physical components needed by the screen. Same goes for the added height for the speakers. Slim down the bezels all you want but you'd still need room for the baffles, the empty space behind the scenes that (as any audiophile will tell you) is what gives a speaker its oomph. - http://bit.ly/1wE7VRK

I asked my sister if the black bar got in her way when using the phone. She said no. And I know she won't give it up if it also meant losing BoomSound.

There's no such thing as a perfect phone, and when we buy any phone, we will make compromises. Many people love BoomSound. And they are willing to compromise with the black bar.

Some people have turned to other devices with front speakers and said they don't have a big black bar. Sony's Z3 has dual front speakers. And so does the Nexus 6. They don't have a black bar, but the Z3 is just as big as the M8, and the Nexus 6 is bigger. So why isn't HTC's black bar a worthwhile compromise for speakers which many say are the best in the industry?

Would I have preferred a phone with BoomSound but without that bar? Sure. I'm sure many other's would too. But am I willing to compromise and tolerate it for the experience of using BoomSound speakers? Yes I am.
