I think this focus on making all my photos easier to manage, sort and what-not will actually make me use G+ for that purpose. iPhoto is a disaster and not online. Facebook is great for sharing and tagging, but it's never been a solution for editing, organizing and it doesn't keep the full file.

I think photos built Facebook, in many ways, and this could really start to chip away at that.

Oh, this Buzzfeed article about Reader referral traffic vs. Google+ makes me sad. (I found the article on READER, by the way.)

I'll say this for #AutoAwesome. It does compel me to share things (like these photos of me and +Kimberly Mason from our honeymoon in Bermuda).

Is there a way to force Auto-Awesome to run again on a set of photos? Because of the way I was importing stuff, some photos that probably would've been awesomeized were not added at exactly the same time. So I want to force the Google robots to go through them again now that the full set it collected together.

So does +Google+ let me circle RSS feeds yet and keep track of read/unread? No? OK, see you later. #longlivegooglereader

Want to tell Google what specifically you'll miss about Reader? A guy who's shaping Google+ is asking to see if the features can be part if Plus. Would be fine with me if they actually did it!

I have a question for avid Google Reader users: what are the aspects of the way Reader works that made it so useful for you? I've heard a number of things floated in the past day -- e.g., the particular sources available, the way of managing read/unread state, various aspects of the UI -- but I'd like to understand better what the concrete things about Reader were which people found the most useful, because I'd like to integrate those ideas into future versions of many Google products, and try to capture that value.

(NB: If you're seeing this via a reshare, please remember to comment on the original post if you want me to see what you're saying!)

Warning: This is not a thread to simply complain about the shutdown, or to ask Google to keep Reader. That's not something that I can help you with, nor is it a decision that I had anything to do with, and this is not a good place to get anyone's attention about that. This thread is a place to talk about specific things which are useful about it so that we can think about good ways to capture that usefulness in the modern world.

Comments which disregard the previous paragraph will simply be deleted. Comments complaining about my deleting those comments will result in me blocking and/or mercilessly mocking you for failing to read instructions. Comments complaining about that will lead to some interesting replies in a combination of languages, probably starting with Yiddish and moving on from there. Comments interested in the Yiddish language should instead go on my post from last night. (http://goo.gl/xxn7h, but I should say that I'm not an expert or a fluent speaker of the language)

Introduction

My name is Porter Mason. I live in Bloomfield, NJ. I’m half-Hungarian.

I work as the Digital Director at the U.S. Fund for UNICEF. I used to work in online marketing for Environmental Defense Fund.

I’ve been drawing cartoons since the age of five and publishing them since the age of fifteen.

I did a comic strip called Bassist Wanted. It’s about music stuff. I also did one called One Nation, Thunder Dog that's about politics.

I did a comic strip, Johnny the Mediocre Human, while I was at Duke University, and developed another comic strip called Back Bay with Universal Press Syndicate.

I was the founder of T.J. Monkey's, a humor website that provided daily essays from 2001 through 2004. I also wrote little bits for magazines like FHM and Time Out New York.

I wrote a screenplay with a friend about the 2004 election. If you wanna read it and then make it, let me know.

As if this all wasn’t enough, I regularly performed improvisational comedy from 1996 through 2012. I performed and taught comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in New York City with groups such as 1985 and The Curfew.
