It is an incorrect statement to say that Warren and Clinton are competing to lead women in the Democratic Party. According to a 2012 Pew study, 57% of the Democratic base is women. Sen. Warren and former Sec. Clinton aren’t competing to lead women. They are leading the Democratic Party.

The citizens of North Carolina have had enough of Republican politics when it comes to public education.

In a report that came out on Thursday, the state’s largest school district, Wake County, revealed that as many as 600 public school teachers have left the profession this year.  These are 600 professional educators in the state’s largest school district that have found the teaching conditions to be so insufferable that they chose to remove themselves from the classroom even before the school year came to an end.  This number is a 41% increase from the previous year and represents a growing trend of educators gradually leaving the state for greener pastures.  With the state unlikely to boost teaching salaries for the 2014-2015 school year, many in the Tar Heel State expect to see teachers not only leave Wake County but leave the state entirely for better professional opportunities.

The final stake may have been driven through the heart of one of the religious right’s media darlings. Participants of the A&E reality show ‘Duck Dynasty’ had scheduled a stage show in Springfield, MO. The show, titled ‘Faith, Family & Ducks,’ was supposed to take place April 26th at Springfield’s 11,000-seat JQH Arena. Tickets were on sale for $37, $50 and $58. The show was to be a mix of live music and lectures from the ‘Dynasty’ cast members, where they would discuss their faith and perhaps do some preaching and/or inspirational speaking.

Despite protests by students and faculty, the powers that be at the College of Charleston in South Carolina appointed confederate apologist and Lt. Governor Glenn McConnell to be the college’s next president.  He is the sort of guy that caught the SPLC’s attention and merited a write up on the organization’s website earlier this month.  Not surprisingly, the segregationist and pro-slavery crowd in South Carolina can count on McConnell during times of need.

In its most simple and accurate meaning, a patriot is someone who feels a strong support for their country. The definition of a patriot takes on a different meaning for the religious and extremist far right who share a dangerous belief that they are a law unto themselves and not beholden to the laws of this nation, particularly the U.S. Constitution they hold in the same contempt as they do the federal government. Last week’s tense standoff between agents of the Department of the Interior and armed militias summoned by Nevada Mormon Cliven Bundy was, by any measure, the near realization of a dream of right wing anarchists claiming to be patriots; the start of a revolution. They yearn to wage war and destroy the federal government, and the Constitution, to reshape America according to Koch brothers’ John Birch libertarianism that explains the Kochs’ Americans for Prosperity encouraging and supporting the criminal Bundy.

+Charles-A Rovira They aren't taxes, they are land use fees, and yes, there is a difference. Also, no one here knows to what degree he was jerked around by the BLM, and yes, that happens. Basically, I find it absolutely impossible to trust a government that incarcerates more people, per capita, than any other in the world. It sheds doubt on it's ability to adjudicate disputes between itself and citizens. So forgive me if I'm skeptical about the entire issue.

The Clinton presidential library has made public a 1995 memo where the White House explained how the right gets the media to cover their conspiracy theories, and it still explains how Republicans do it today.

Here is the explanation of how the right infects the national conversation with their conspiracy theories:

Krugman hit on three keys point as to why the GOP’s ACA position is killing them:

1). This law is benefitting millions of people.

2). Republicans can’t mount a rational opposition to the law, so they have been reduced to looking like whiners.

3). The GOP put all of their eggs in the repeal Obamacare basket, and they have no backup plan.

The mindset among a large number of Americans is that the only role for women was domestic where they must tend the home, care for their husbands, bear, and raise children. In the late 1930s, one man elucidated perfectly the mindset held by the religious right and Republican patriarchs that proffers “The granting of equal rights to women in reality does not grant equal rights … it instead constitutes a deprivation of rights, since it draws women into realms of society where they are inferior. Women are not equipped to survive the turmoil and pressure of workplaces, business or politics; women are the eternal companion of men and the triumphant task of women is to bear and tend babies.” The man articulating the only role that Republicans and the religious right contend is as applicable to American women in 2014 as it was in biblical times was Adolf Hitler, and although it is virtually verboten to compare Republicans, the religious right, and all manner of conservatives to Hitler’s Nazi Germany, the resemblances are just too blatant to ignore.

Real Liberal Politics...No Corporate Money...No Corporate Masters
Introduction

PoliticusUSA was founded in February of 2008 by Jason Easley. Jason had a vision of a liberal and independent news site which would offer a mix politics and opinion in an unfiltered environment, not beholden to any specific political or media agenda. PoliticusUSA is by design accessible to all levels of readers. Whether you are a casual follower of current events or a policy wonk, there is something here at PoliticusUSA for you.

“If by a “Liberal” they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people-their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties-someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a “Liberal,” then I’m proud to say I’m a Liberal.” ~J.F.K.

In other words, if you are to the left of Ayn Rand Tea Party Social Darwinism, if you think we have some responsibility for the poor, the elderly, the veterans, the disabled, and the vulnerable in society, welcome to PoliticusUSA.
