THREE YEARS IN THE LEAD
POLIMODA CLIMBS BOF RANKINGS 2017

After the successful ratings of 2015 and 2016, Polimoda cements its role as one of the top ten fashion institutes worldwide according to +The Business of Fashion’s Annual Global Fashion School Rankings, landing 5th place among the Fashion Business graduate programs and once more claiming pole position on a national level.

POLIMODA RENDEZ-VOUS WITH DAVID FISCHER
THE IMPORTANCE OF COMMUNITY AND BRAND TRIBES IN 2017

On October 30th the founder and publisher of +Highsnobiety, David Fischer, will cross Polimoda’s threshold to partake in the Rendez-Vous Series and share his 12-year experience at the helm of one of today’s most popular websites.

With around 500 million social media impressions, and nine million unique visitors a month, the world-renowned lifestyle publication offers insight on a range of trending topics, from music to the the arts, fashion and culture.

Fischer founded Highsnobiety in 2005 as a side hustle while studying business administration at the University of Zurich, in his native Switzerland. This was to be his first step towards conquering the web, followed by curated shopping platform What Drops Now in 2014 and creative production agency Highsnobiety Plus in 2016, all of which fall under the group Titel Media.

Since 2009 Fischer operates his business in Berlin, Germany, and has ambitiously straddled all facets of the digital revolution, setting trends and exploring the uncharted potential of emerging online strategies and branded content. In this respect, Highsnobiety boasts collaborations with footwear and streetwear brands like Adidas, Carhartt, Puma and Kith’s Ronnie Fieg , Anicorn, as well as artists and lifestyle companies like bike maker Aventon.

THE TEMPTATION OF BUYING

This course integrates teaching about human behaviour with all the necessary tools of management, including; finance, operations, distribution, buying, merchandising, floor management, product communication and commercial direction.

THE LVMH-POLIMODA PARTNERSHIP
A NEW SYNERGY OF INDUSTRY AND EDUCATION

For the first time, the +LVMH professional training program, Institut des Métiers d’Excellence (IME), is expanding to Italy and has selected Polimoda as the first education partner in the country.

Beginning in October 2017, the Leather-Pro course marks the beginning of this official collaboration between LVMH and Polimoda, and will invite 12 students to build their skills and passion for handcrafted leather goods. Artisan craft is at the core of this course, and Polimoda’s Design Lab in Scandicci, thanks to its strategic location in the heart of the Florence’s region of leather production, gives students direct links with the industry and ultra-modern laboratories. The program will also include additional IME courses and master classes at the Palazzo Pucci, the headquarters of the IME in Italy, as well as at LVMH Maison ateliers.

THE LANGUAGE OF ALLURE: FASHION CURATION

On June 1st, 2017, Mr Olivier Saillard will come to Polimoda to give a very special #PolimodaRendezVous on exhibitions and performances that focus on garments, as well as his vision of fashion history and how it has changed over the past twenty years.

"It is our hope that it may reborn in another time, another place, within the fickle walls of a museum, in the forgotten spaces of a building. That it will continue to raise questions about the transient nature of fashion but also about its poetic vitality […]"

Now considered perhaps the most respected and prolific curator in the medium of fashion, Mr Saillard will meet with Polimoda students and professors to share his experience and vision on the industry just days before The Ephemeral Museum Of Fashion exhibition, produced by Fondazione Pitti Immagine Discovery in collaboration with the Uffizi Gallery and Palais Galliera, will open.
