Treat your family to a special day at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium. Where else can you see seahorses and sharks, peacocks and penguins, wolves and walrus, all in one place?

The 29-acre Zoo is large enough to offer an awesome array of animals yet small enough to let you get really close to them. Our keepers often roam the grounds, taking animals on strolls so you can see them up close. Who knows? You might run into an aardvark on your way to see the polar bears!

first IGNORE THE REVIEW claiming this place is unsafe. The crime listed can happen at any place with a huge parking lot with cars out of view, i never experienced any dangers here or had friends even experience them. THIS ZOO IS COOL! However~~~ I wish they actually had more types of preditory animals, however in the several several years I've been here I have seen exhibits that they should never have given up. They are usually packed too & a wee pricey. It's worth it though. However THEY NEED TO MAKE THE SNOW FOX EXHIBIT ACTUALLY SET UP TO FIND THE FOX. I have seen one there ONCE in my whole life and been going that long too.. 30 yrs and seen a snow fox in there one time.. come on ._. Not everyone has the ability to come damn near daily. Make the change!

Seemed like it has slipped a little on being clean over the years but it is still our favorite NW Zoo, and defiinitely much better than the Portland Zoo, which was a mess the last time we were there. The setting is a great place for a zoo with some beautiful views.

The place in general is very well kept, many interesting animals and the aquarium staff person was knowledgeable about the fish in the main tank. The reason for a low score was the cramped spaces, especially the tiny octopus tank holding an intelligent animal which is far too restrictive.

-- Came an hour bfore they closed the Zoo at 4pm. Even if we didnt gett to see all of the animals, we still gott to see most of the ones that we came to the Zoo for. Also dropped by the Gift store and walked away with two of the cute stuff animals. We enjoyed it but nxt tme , we'll plan to cme a little earlier than today!

WATCH OUT! Dangerous park. My car and the one next to me was broken into today (IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY) with valuables stolen. Apparently its an ongoing problem. I would be very careful until the city can make it safe for the hardworking citizens of Tacoma to use.

I just went here today and I must say, I absolutely love this place. I will definitely come again, many times I am sure. I took plenty of awesome photos and videos. The place is chalk-full of photo ops. It is especially beautiful as it is in the summer here and the sun creates great lighting for the scenery. It will definitely still be beautiful in the rain, just a different experience entirely! I want to encounter the supposed ghost here. That would be exciting! I highly recommend a trip here.
