Even though Halloween is still a week away, I'm already thinking about and preparing for Christmas.  Have you started Christmas shopping yet?

I was quoted in an article in The Federalist this morning. Vanessa, a fellow milspouse blogger at Bible, Beer & Babies wrote this piece on suicide. I'm asking you to read it. I reserved comments on Brittany Maynard, the woman LIVING with Stage IV brain cancer who will end her life on November 1st from taking pills. Why do we encourage her to end her life when we either discourage others from taking theirs, or shame those who did? I was once told I would not live to see the age of 22. I was told there was no hope. What if the day after, the month after or a year after she takes those pills there IS hope? I believe it is a topic that can never be cut and dry, but I do not think she is a hero and I do not think she is an example a newly diagnosed stage four cancer patient should emulate. On a side note: My former mother-in-law was also told she wouldn't live through Stage IV Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer. That was over twelve years ago and she is alive and well today. Vanessa words this beautifully and I hope you will take pause and perhaps realize Brittany's decision isn't necessarily the right one, right now. #Suicide

My husband, who was born a Duck fan and will die a Duck fan, had class today at the University of WA main campus today. Of course he HAD to wear his Duck Gear to class and guess who's playing each other this weekend? UO & U-Dub. I'm just hoping he makes it home alive.... ‪#‎GoDucks‬ ‪#‎WinTheDay‬
