+Edward Daniels sprint was only teasing that this phone will finally get sprint spark compatibility. Obviously Google and sprint had to work together to get this working since it is their network tech. That's all. Sprint users weren't going to get it first, although Google does update nexus devices in batches so their servers don't crash. So that's the only setback, but if you're rooted you can just flash the file as soon as its available, instead of waiting if you didn't receive it yet.
