Double Postings in Your Stream
I posted a similar #Gplushelp
tip last year, but since there are so many new Gplussers I would like to offer this tip once again.
I still see lots of personal profiles with the same picture often repeated over and over again because they were posted to communities. For someone coming to your profile for the first time and looking at repetitive of posts it could be very annoying and a turn off. Would you agree? In any case, this is completely a personal choice.
This duplicate posting event often occurs when you post to Public and to Communities immediately after and you have the box below clicked on. When you unclick the box below, all community postings dissapear from your stream. They are still within the communities but NOT showing in your stream. If you unclick the box shown below your stream will look much more professional and attractive.
At least that is my impression. How to Post
Personally, I post to "Public" first all the time, but the next day, after posting my new image for the day, I go back to the image I posted the day before and I post it to communities -- I made a habit of it, and it works great for me. The main reason for doing this is that it avoids your audience from seeing your posts too many times in one day. Again, for me, seeing the same image over and over again is a turn off. I also post only to two communities at the time.
Mind you, if you unclick the box below, you will have to find your postings in the Community pages manually. You will still get notifications related to +1's and comments in those communities.Posting to Communities Only
If you only post to Communities, then only those in the community will see and are able to comment on your posts. So, if you post to a Community of 800 people, you limiting your audience to that many people, and the rest of G+ will not see or comment in your post. Unfortunately, you cannot post to Public and to a Community at the same time. Not sure why, but that is how it's set up. So, I would recommend posts be made to Public first, with all your tags and everything, and then reposting to Communities THE DAY AFTER. Also, as I curator on G+, there's nothing worse than seeing a gorgeous post and not being able to comment because the post was posted to a Community. It happens all the time.
