Skin Care Products for Babies: Tips for Parents

Babies’ skin is so sensitive that babysitters and parents alike need careful consideration as to the kind of products that they should use for their cute loved one. Here are some tips to help you:

1. Don’t use lotion just yet

Before you begin experimenting with the kind of lotion that you should apply on your baby’s skin, consider getting an expert advice first. Various products are being sold in the market, and it might be hard to know which one suits best for your baby’s skin type. If the pediatrician is not recommending it yet, then might as well halt the excitement for some months or years until the pediatrician gives it a go.

2. Don’t just buy whatever that’s new

Parents love it sometimes. They like to try the newly displayed product in the shelves of their favorite department store. Don’t easily buy the advertisements and sales talk of the customer service representatives you bump into. It might be new and enticing, but it does not mean that it is already the best for your baby’s skin and age. If you think that the current product you are using is still working great, then don’t replace it yet until of course, you start seeing signs of hypersensitivity.

What to Keep in Mind When Changing Baby’s Diapers

Changing diapers can be pretty challenging for parents and babysitters alike. The smell, the fussy baby, the high-pitched cry, and so much more can make you lose your concentration. But, here’s what you should not forget whenever your baby needs a change:

Wash your hands

Before and after you change your baby’s diaper, wash your hands with soap and water. There is a hand washing technique that you can apply to better remove the dirt, bacteria, and smell that are stuck in your hand. This ensures protection for both you and your baby.

Have all needed items within reach

Panic can make you want to run from one point to another to get all the necessary things. This will leave your child unattended which is a no-no. Better yet, have all the items already prepared and placed in one area within your reach while changing your baby’s diaper. This will save time, energy, and ultimately prevent injury.

Throw all soiled things right away

Aside from not having to endure the awful smell that’s coming out from your baby’s diaper, throwing all the soiled items right away will keep your baby from playing on them, grabbing and then bringing them directly to his or her mouth. Imagine how disgusting and awful it is. Protect your baby from cross contamination and throw whatever that needs to be thrown right away.

Protecting Diabetic Patients from Complications

Diabetes Mellitus is a deadly disease that can lead to various complications in the body. To protect patients from these complications, you can:

Monitor their diet

Strictly follow doctor’s recommended diet for your diabetic patient. Because of the inability of the pancreas to supply enough insulin for the body, high caloric, sugary, and fatty foods are omitted from the patient’s diet. These foods only increase the patient’s risk of heart and kidney failure. They are replaced with fruits, vegetables, and other foods rich in fiber and essential nutrients instead.

Support regular exercise

Remind or assist. Either way works fine. The lack of insulin production or the inability of the body to use it up properly can lead to an increased sugar level in the blood. Regular exercise enables muscles to take up much more glucose to make up for the extra energy needed, thereby decreasing its level.

Advise regular checkup

Regular monitoring of blood glucose level, as well as physical examination, is needed. It is good and comforting to be able to talk to your patient’s doctor from time to time. Not only will this help you know the health condition of your patient but will also guide you with the right intervention. Questions and concerns can also be brought into the open.

Complications may be varied, but it can still be avoided. Prevent them while you still can through the above-mentioned tips.

When to Get a Home Care Aide for Your Senior Loved Ones at Home

Living with elderly persons is hard. Aside from meeting your own needs, you also have to look after them. If you opt for a home care aide to solve this kind of problem, you are on the right track. You simply need one when:

You are too busy. You don’t have to juggle between taking care of your personal life and taking care of your senior loved ones because that would be unfair. Leaving them under the care of a home care aide is not an act of selfishness. It is simply acknowledging that you cannot do it on your own and that doing the responsibility all by yourself will only worsen his or her condition.

You don’t know what needs to be done. Medication administration, incontinence care, and personal grooming may lead to a disaster if they’re done by someone who does not know how to do them well. Perhaps asking help from a home care aide would be safer and more helpful than owning all the responsibilities. A home care aide is highly trained. Therefore, you can rely on this professional for all important activities.

You want to improve their health condition. Home care aides are trained professionals who do several tasks to facilitate health improvement. Their holistic approach is what most seniors are looking for. No one can better understand them more than they do.
