If it weighed 8 tons (8000 kg) and was 15 meters wide (a sphere 7.5 m in radius), it would have a density about 0.4% the density of water. In other words, those preliminary numbers are ridiculously wrong.
 
I'd heard initial estimates at 2 metres across so maybe they misplaced a decimal and meant 1.5 metres?
