The Pisoni family celebrates almost two decades of winemaking from the beautiful Garys’ Vineyard. Overcoming a serious drought, the 2016 vintage is a dazzling outcome of extreme vigilance and gentle care for the vines. We are proud to announce the release of the 2016 Lucia Garys’ Vineyard Pinot Noir, a wine that combines richness with restraint and complexity with precision, and the 2016 Lucia Garys’ Vineyard Syrah, which marries fresh crushed blueberry, black licorice, notes of Kalamata olive, wild game, and a hint of leather…. Two outstanding wines cultivated by the expert hands of the Pisoni family.

Ever wondered what lies beneath our vineyards? We did. In our new blog post "Pisoni Vineyards from Below: A Short History of Monterey County’s Geology" we explore exactly what our grapes are grown in.

What must one possess to cultivate and create Pinot Noir:
Patience? Yes.
Capriciousness? Most definitely.
A little bit of crazy? Absolutely.
Romanticism? Always.

In the words of Gary Pisoni: “. . . we didn’t get into this business because of the money, man, we got into it because of the pinot noir.”

Where else can you find the foggy, wind-swept cool climate perfectly suited for Pinot Noir and the decomposed granite soils begging to be planted to Syrah? Releasing the Lucia 2015 vintage of the truly unique Garys’ Vineyard. http://buff.ly/2sKnW0C

Coastal influence? How about a 23-mile-wide funnel for wind and fog on the California Coast. Also known as Monterey Bay.

We are thankful to be featured in Lettie Teague’s recent Wall Street Journal article, where she discusses her visit to the Santa Lucia Highlands, a region with “unpretentious producers” and “really good wines.” Lettie took in the “incredible views” with 92-year-old Jane Pisoni, who has seen the region evolve over the past 65 years to the great wine region it is today.
