Gavin Derwich, a sophmore from Pinckney High School just went to Athens GA to compete in a video game tournament For the PC game "RUST" He tied for 2nd place winning $1,500.00. This was his first time ever entering a competition. Best of all, he shared the prize 3 ways with his two friends who did not make it to the championship round. It was put on by Esports at the University of Athens and was broadcast live online by UMG on Twitch TV.

I would like to wish five of our high school boys who are swimming today at EMU for the 2017 MHSAA Boys D2 Swim and Dive Championship meet. I have provided their names, along with their events. These young men have worked extremely hard all season and will no doubt, make us proud once again at EMU as they represent PIRATE NATION! Congrats and good luck!

A couple months ago, we had to purchase a new transit van for our district that will transport small groups of students to athletic/academic events, especially given the current bus driver shortage and the amount of money it costs to rent a bus from LESA or a charter bus, which is outrageous. Although the van cost $26,500, we had to make the investment as our older van is no longer appropriate to travel long distances with students and it will also save us money in the long run as once again, we will use this to transport students to a variety of events instead of relying on busing.
I would like to thank our volunteer marketing team, Positively Pinckney, for donating money to get the van decaled as it is turning heads everywhere it goes. More importantly, our students are also very proud to be traveling to their events as everyone will know the Pirates are coming!!
